Alright guys, I want to do my exhaust soon. All I have now is a stock setup with a custom SRI. From what I've read... the best thing to buy is a high flow cat to replace the mid one...and a magnaflow muffler. But I've also heard to just have an autoshop make a custom catback setup while bringing your choice of muffler.

I'm wanting a good non ricey sound and be able to pass emissions. I've heard people spend anywhere from 150-700 dollars changing their exhaust setup. I'm wanting to stay in the low - mid 200's range preferably. But if I can't do it right at that price then I'll just have to save up.

My questions...

Which highflow cat/brand?
Which magnaflow muffler...performance series/oval...?
Am I supposed to get a resonator too, which brand or one?

I am pleased with my custom SRI made from the 93 Accord CAI though!

I wish there was just a list of what to get to do our exhaust properly. I see too many people doing different things...running pipe over axle, under...different size pipe, decat, highflow cat, resonator, no resonator, I trust yall more than the guys at the muffler places so what do yall think.

I saved a lot of money by not going to the Toyota stealership for my radiator and intake tips I got from yall.

With my custom exhaust setup (Made by a local exhaust shop)i'm using a Magnaflow High Flow Cat. Converter, a 20" Magnaflow resonator muffler, and a Megan Racing N1 style muffler. The resonator greatly reduces if not removes that ricey exhaust tone you get from most other exhaust. I have a vid. clip on youtube so you can take a look at it. The pipe diameter is 2.5" consist of only mandrel bends, and is over-axle. So yeah, a custom exhaust is the most affordable alternative to other name brand's like the greddy SP2 exhaust. The rear muffler is what will give the exhaust it's own unique tone.

Check the shops bending technic though. If they do thier own crush bends then it won't help much, best would be if they buy different degree mandrel bends and use what they need to custom fab the exhaust.

u can call them and order piping for exhaust from 2.5" on up. they do custom bending, but have preset bends such as 90degree, U-piped, 45degree..

its rather cheap, however i do not know the cost of shipping.

if u take a visit to your local bookstore (Borders, Barnes&Noble) n check out the auto magazine rack, im sure you'll find a JCWhitney catalog that has like $10 off an order of 150 or more..somethin like that.

So I have to buy a new cat, muffler, resonator, and ordrer piping?? I'm thinking the cat and muffler alone would run me well over 300.

How is this muffler, guys? I don't want a huge tip or anything on it. I want it to look like the stock oval one. This is the closest I could find. Will this work?

out of curiosity, on a non turbo car, like an st or gt, how big of a difference if any would a crush bent pipe make compared to a mandrel? on say like 2.25" piping? i cant see the added expense really giving you anything noticeable on such a low hp NA car, any dyno runs before/after stock - custom exhaust, and also any dyno numbers for the same setup on changing from bent to mandrel?

I don't know. I'm honestly just going with the with the 2.5 piping that the exhaust shop is going to have. I'm going to run this muffler keeping both the stock cats and have them put a resonator on. I'll replace the cats when they need to be later on.
