Topic #51402 18 posts Started by mrgrape
so i was driving back to san diego from LA
and suddenly i hear a thump thump flat sound from my front left tire
i was like wtfffff and i pull over and check it out and it doesnt seem flat....
so i keep driving 10mph all the way from LA hopefully thinking i dont have to replace my tire
b/c at that moment i took out the spare
2 days later
i had my friend spot me while i was driving and he found a huge ass nail stuck in my tire....
so what do i do now???
remove it?
you can temperarily take it out and patch it up. but it's better to just replace the whole tire.(cause your going to eventualy need to anyway)

I just pulled a nail out of my woman's truck and patched it. It held fine. But I agree
with 96bluevert..you're going to want to eventually replace it. We patched hers cuz we're
both broke right now.

My new, blue spark plug wires gave my Celica, roughly, 250 more horsepower..94 Celica GT89 Sentra Sport Coupe Project (the other haggard woman)
so should i replace it with my spare????
or how do i go from here other than the patch cuz im a total noob
You can go to walmart and buy plugs. They are just these really stick strips that you shove in the hole with a tool they give you. This is if the hole is in the tread part of the tire.

take it to the tire shop you got the tires at, they might do a flat repair for free or at a discount because you bought the tires there.

meanwhile, you can put on the spare but just not go above like 55 mph.

If the tire isn't repairable (the nail is in the sidewall or close to it) then you'll need a new one.

Like 6strngs said, take it to a tire shop for repair if its NOT in the sidewall. If it is, you're hooped. Also, my spare is a full size. If yours is then you can just put your spare on (But its still a good idea to repair that tire). On a side note, try getting through a post without swearing, and try some grammar; might make people more willing to post constructive replies. Just a little advice for these forums.

yehthanks all of u guys
really helpful
the nails in the far right thread of the tire so im gonna research more and do what u guys told me
same thing happened to me a couple months ago...

Found some big bolt lodged into my tire... I didnt find out until my tire became suddenly out of round... The tire was so bad that just driving down the road under 30 mph shook the car around like crazy. When I got to a tire shop they were surprised I even made it there cuz there was a HUGE bubble on the inside of the tire that could of basically exploded if I was driving any longer on it. They threw on my spare, and had to order me a new tire basically.

if you dont know what your doing, I'd definitely take it into someone who does... it could be a bigger problem then it really is.

if it's too far right, it may not be repairable. but please don't try to fix it on your own, if it's not done right it can be dangerous. just take it to be fixed, or if the tread is real low anyway, you might as well replace it. for now though, put on your spare.
