has any one try this before? Im thinking of putting a logitech 5.1 channel suround speakers with TXH ceritified in my car ...it has digital inputs so im going to try to make a toslink cable hooking it with the clarion hxd2. But that will leave 8 channels preouts useless...argh

...should i go with digital and ditch all the sound filters like time alignment and x-over and such or should i go with the preouts???

A subwoofer normally used for home audio can be very effiicient if done properly depending on the subwoofer, box and amp you can actually have better bass than most car subwoofers. My friend has a civic with a 12" jl audio w3 in a ~2 cu/ft box powered by a jl audio 500/2 watt amp and he even says that my system hits harder and sounds clearer than his.

I have an Adire Audio 12" Shiva Mark III subwoofer powered by a 450 watt monoblock Alpine amplifier in a 2.75 cu/ft box. everything cost me a total of $150 because i got the sub for real cheap and the amp used off of a member on here. I am very impressed and extremely content with the results i've gotten from my setup.

You have a Clarion HXD2 so you better get a pretty damn good system for it . The HXD2 is a fine piece of equipment.

Airfron, he is talking about Logitech speakers which are PC computer speakers or home prepackaged speakers from how I read it, correct me if wrong. Home audio drivers are ok to use in cars.

Just use your oem speakers for now, it looks tacky having computer speakers in the car. It is ok-ish in terms of sound but I rather have the OEM speakers in there.

Please please, PRETTY PLEASE, just use your old stock speakers until you can save up for new speakers. I have customers try to skimp on audio all the time. Just because you can theoretically connect the speaker wire to the speaker and cause sound to come out, doesn't mean it works properly.... I had some guy come in wondering why his receiver blew a channel...Turns out he wired two speakers into the same speaker wire clip on the back of his receiver..sure it worked for a little while..

^thats where I get my drivers from, whether building custom home theater speakers or just gawking at all the pretty set ups. BTW if you play it loud, stay away from Silk dome tweeters, if you use tweeters.
