Im hoping to get new 18s from a friend in about a week or two, he currently has 225/35ZR18 but i want to replace the tires soon, he only has 70% on the front two and like 30% on the back.

I want the no-rubber look without breaking 100ea for the tires. in your opinion what is the best tire size?

and is a 38+ offset good?

I think he means more like a "low-profile" tire. 225/35/18 is pretty low-profile!

There pretty low profile. TO low profile in my taste. If you have a 8 or 8.5J rim it would be even lower then on my car (has 7.5J rims)

I have 225/40ZR18 in BFgoodwrench g-force KDW-2's and i love them. The 40's are big enough to give you a little more stability but are not too big. I bent a rim with 35's pretty bad. They are very very low.

i have 18x8 and i run a 225x35 tires, wouldnt go any lower profile than that, khumo gets you that size for like 68 a piece... imo get something nice im runnin a 28mm offset, so your gonna have 1cm more of the sucked in look than what my car is, given that, the inner rear of the wheel well, theres wheel plastics thats going to rub slightly at full turn if you have an 8" wide wheel with a 225x35< tire, anything less than 90% will be more than fine as far as rubbing, but to answer your question... 215x35 would be ideal... but 225x35 would be perfect!if they will let you... test fit some 235's and see if you can live with any clearence issues that may arise

i have 215/35/r18s on my 7.5" wide rims and next time im going 225/40/r18 cause with the 35s theres just not enough tire there if you hit a bump or anything.

If you want the tyres to be cheaper. I found out that 225/35 tyres are more expensive then the 225/40 tyres because the 35 is a less selling size. 40 is more common. And for ride comfort/handling I would go with the 40 as well.

Definately.

Just compare it to the 17" guys. Example: Defgeph is finally convinced and driving with 45 side's now and most other people (finally) agree that 45 sides are better then the 40 sides for 17"

Same goes for our 18" most people use 35 because its closest to the stock tyre. But there is enough room to bridge the gap between what the stock tyres give on speed on the road and what you drive on your speedo.

The difference between a 225/45/17 and a 225/40/18 tyre is only 0.5 percent.

ok another question, will there be a speedo diff? i read somehwere that diff tires sizes can throw off your speedo by like 5mph

Yes there is BUT!!! Toyota itself has a gap built into the speedo system. This is so that people cant sue the car maker if driving at exact or just 1 point above the speed limit. This difference could mean a 5-7 percent difference in speed.

The 225/35/18 give a 1.5 difference in speed ( doing 100mph = 101.5mph)
225/40/18 is 5.1 procent. (100mph=105.1mph)

I have the 35 in front now and test driven it with help of a local cop (yeah the one's here are friendly)
When doing 50km/h (approx 35mph) the laser gun gave a reading of 48km/h. So that would mean that with the 40 side it would be precisly 50km/h. I dont know if there is a tolerance percentage that needs to be deducted from the recorded speed trap in the US? (here in holland thats 3%).

All in all, you should be fine.

We dont have cops that give you a hard time here, just because you have a fart can or such. There's not really a import scene here that gets much attention alone because, EVERY car is an import We dont have strict guidelines about DOT (in our country CE) certified stuff. As long as is a vehicle that can be driven safe its okay. Only thing they can sometimes whine about (but thats mostly in the past) is window tint, but thats now legally set on 25% tint (as in 75 % visibility)

Damnz klompen (wouden shoes) are outdated even here A few old people still use them but most are sold the tourists I guess. I dont even know people who use them anymore.

Deutsch = German for Germany
Dutch = English for The Netherlands

Well yeah they are still used on farms but even there they use more modern clumps. They are made like other shoes but without shoelaces.

I guess that's why most go for 17" rims. look fairly big, nice ride with 225/45's fitted and can be lowered.
