Basically, I heard it today while driving...I have had my axles changed almost a year ago and the only thing left that i need to do is change my brake pads, which i plan to do soon....I was driving down the streets when i suddenly heard a noise, squealing squeaky noise coming from my front right or left side of the car....i wasn't breaking but it sounded like the noise came from the rotors as if your brakes completely going out and the calipers are grinding on the rotor....the sound will only show up as i make a hard left turn (U-turn, slowly) or just in gear slowing down without pressing on the brake i can hear the squealing seemingly coming from the front rotors...should i just change my brake pads ( thus saying it is my brakes going out) and be okay, or it is something else? I thought stepping on the brake, if it squeals means the pads are out and that i need to change asap...?
help??
Squealing noise as you turn or in gear slowing down... - 6G Celicas Forums
what speed does it squeel at? 10mph? 50 mph?
does it squeel when your car is at a stop?
does it squeel when your car is at a stop?
drive down to see me already!
i had to replace my bearings when thishappened... all was good afterwards
lol...its happening to me now...ill be fixing it all soon, new tein shocks, KOYO springs....and so forth....thats on the spring side..but you sure its the bearings....not anything else? cuz my springs are makin noises...when i go on a bump
Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing. The best way to check is have a professional front end inspectition done.

generally around 10-20 mph...or less...weird...but then again it should be expected because this is a 13yr old car...thanks for all your input, it really helps...wheel bearing huh? anyone has the pics? or even diagram of where that is? could it be springs...? when i go over bumps, nothing really, it just occurs when i make a sharp hard left turn or decrease in my speed while in gear...example...2nd or 3rd gear still in gear slowing down then it squeals...weird right?

If it's only when you turn, you need to replace the power steering belt.

If highly doubt it, belt squels have a very different tone and pitch.

no.,..this sounded like the noise of a rotors being grind by the calipers...when the brakes are out...only when i slow down and when i turn...i think it might be the bearings too...regardless, changing wheel bearings out of a 13 yr old car wouldn't be too bad of an idea either...it is rather old...
I'm pretty certain it's wheel bearings. Just be safe and do both, it'll help keep the car balanced too during harder cornering

lift the front of the car in the air and try to wiggle the wheel from top to bottom, if it wiggles...you need a wheel bearing or at least it should be looked at.
Coming in 2010full paintjob - new wheels - modified body - new interior - engine build- marriage
If it wiggles check WHERE it's wiggling.
There are other parts besides the wheel bearing that hold the wheel steady.
