hmm i think i know what your talking about...heres what i did

place crowbar or similar shaped metal rod between any 2 of the 3 smaller surrounding bolts to anchor it and prevent it from rotating (i pushed mine into the grass for more support. then use a large socket wrench (i used a torque wrench) to tighten

I might try that, there has to be a better way. The top of the shaft has a hex like hole, I tried all the metric and standard hex wrenches but none of them fit correctly Here is a pic of what i'm talking about:IPB Image

If the shaft is spinning then its not seated into the top strut mount properly.

I used an electric impact gun. It spins it faster than the shock can rotate so actually tightens it

Edit: if you dont have impact gun, i would tighten it the best you can, then slowly drive it to a shop that does have an air gun. then just take the right socket with you. Just make sure its not too tight.

If the strut is moving, YOU DID NOT INSTALL IT CORRECTLY.
the strut slides into the perch so that it WILL NOT ROTATE

take it back out and install it correctly.

Word. It should only move up and down.. not spin. I used Air tools smile.gif

Thanks for the input, I will make sure to take the strut back apart and put the mount on correctly so the piston won't spin so then I can tighten it. Thanks for the tips.

air tools FTW
A bas strut mount might also be the reason it rotates, as the notch where the cylinder enter might be damage. Happened to me.
