Topic #49827 16 posts Started by cnelson
Hey, i'm about to go next week and order myslef some 17's with new tires.. I was just wondering for all the people who have 17's, do you like it? Is there any differance in driving? Anything you dislike about em?

love them, really hard to tell the difference when driving, only thing i suggest is to get bigger tires than the 205/40's.

17'S are awsome.

run 225/45/17 tires and ull be square.

1)smoother ride,
2) fatter rubber,
3) fill out those wheel wells,
4) u can be like presure2 and defgeph and roll out like pimps...lol

true. Also think about the 215/45/17s too. either the 225s or the 215 will give you much better grip and ride comfort.

Before you get new wheels/tires, I suggest you get lower the car first. You'll look like your driving a Rav4 with those wheels/tires and no drop wink.gif

if i went 205/40/17 how much would i be able to lower it? and inch maybe, an inch and a half?

you could go even lower than that if you were so inclined, however if you are planning on a body kit, i wouldn't suggest it smile.gif.

mine are 205/40/17, i would really suggest going with something a little bigger though.

my tires are small, but i have lowering plans in the future smile.gif.
yeah i plan on lowering also which is why i think i'll go 205/40/17 plus i love the low profile look.

I was thinking about going with 18" on my celica. I wonder how they would fit????
there would be no sidewall at all.. unless you went with a bigger tire.

So cnelson, what rims did you get???

I'm also looking into getting 17's for my GT-S but I hate a lot of rubber, I'd rather have rims filling up my wheel well than rubber. I think I might stick to 205 as well...

I could care less really about "grip" they're not going to be all-season tires anyways tongue.gif ... make sure you get some pics up ASAP!

I wouldn't recommend the combination of 17s and 40 (I have that combination). Especially without being lowered. The overall diameter is just too small and looks silly. Either go for 18s or go for 45% on 17s. I'll be changing to 45% next time I get new tyres for my 17s.

i dunno guys....i just got 18's put on a week ago...and they are awsome, 35 series tires, and its really not bad at all, and i dont have lowering springs and its not even that bad of a gap at all

of course....ive never had 17's...but also 18's look great on our cars

KB
17's with the 225/45/17 tire are the best imo...thats the tire i'm getting next. 18's look great if you can fill the wheel well but idk about the ride...then again i'm in vermont with pot holes and friends on dirt roads annnnnd dumb ass construction guys who can't even fill gaps correctly.
