Aftermarket High Amp Alternators - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #4965 9 posts Started by Makaveddie
Hey fellow 6gc fans,

My alternator just went out on my 94, and i have figured out that it is time for a better alternator (especially when u are running 1300w RMS), and I have a yellow top on the way. I have heard about the recoiled alternators that can put out double what the original alternator puts out. I need some information if any one has any on the following:

1) How many amps the alternator puts out
2) Will it fit the 94 celica st hatchback (manual)
3) How much does it cost,
4) WHERE THE HELL DO I GET IT??!?

If some one could let me know i would appreciate it. Thanks! Ed.
Could always get a power capacitor?

Could always get a power capacitor?

Just remember capacitor don't fix the problem with the charging system they only hide it... and in some cases make it worse. The reason lights dim when subs hit it the sudden draw of power that the alternator can't keep up with. The cap fills in the gap but if the subs keep hitting the cap get drained and then the amp and cap are trying to pull power off of the already overworked alternator making things worse.

Take you dead alternator and get it rewound for a higher output. Also replace all of the wires in your charging system. Power and ground atleast 4 guage.
t96f: would it be possible to ask the guy to build me the same alternator and I would pay shipping? How much would it run?

As for the capacitor, no i don´t want to run around the problem, which is a lack of output. I want to hit it in the source. I will change the cables when i change the alternator. I already have 0 awg power wire and 0 awg ground. I have to replace the chassis to ground and alternator to power.

If any one has information on WHERE to get these, please let me know. Thanks! Ed.

You might be able to find the wires premade but it's just as easy to make them yourself.
wires PRE made? When i was asking about THESE i meant high amp alternators, i know how to make the wires myself. I need to know where to find high amp alternators for our car. Sorry bout the confusion. Ed.
Try going to yellowpages.com and searching alternator and you city/state. I found a bunch of rebuilding shops in my area. I'm sure there is one near you and they should be able to rewind it for higher output.
Bud is away on vaca, stopped in today.

He had told me though that the alt we have is physically not big enough and would have to use a different alt of another vehicle to get the juice outa it.. He made one for a dub that was pushing 180ish LOL
