Thinking of selling the celica. - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #49284 26 posts Started by x_itchy_b_x
Im leaning towards getting an older 91-93 mr2, pref N/A
and swap my current engine into it. I REALLY want rwd.
and the N/A mr2 engine can be swapped in the celica and sell it, and maybe have money to spend afterwards, considering ive founds a few mr2's for 2k and I know I could sell my car for over 2k.
It just seems like a really good idea right now. Esp with higher HP in fwd.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

IPB Image <- Im with this guy... You spent alllllll that time and money blood and sweat into that car only to sell it? dunno man, may seem like a good idea now but could be bad in the end... Id say leave it at a relatives house for a week and see if you could deal with the empty garage tongue.gif I know youd have another car but it wont be the same.....

hes saying ditch the celica for a MKII Mr2 with his 330WHP motor in it...

it would improve that whole traction issue. but would the motor fit? that Intake mani. is huge! and ud have to relocate the alternator..(not like its hard, just something thats REALLY not that much fun)

John, with your celica u know what "problems" it has (traction lol laugh.gif ) getting an Mr2, you really dont know what your getting, for all u know it could have "electrical gremlins" and ud be checking harnesses for days apon days, and replacing things.

IMO, stick with what u have, and try and solve your traction problem. If u can find a good deal on an mr2 shell, go for it, but id be warry of the "gremlins".

keep the celica for at least another year. long enough to give us all rides in it and get some track times to show off. then get the mr2.

Well, based on your mod list, it appears that you still have an open trunk and back seat, which in that respect, the Celica gives you much more utility to haul stuff around. I used to have a Celica Coupe, and I can tell you that the Hatch was vital to our recent move and for trips to Lowes. But you may have other options in that regard anyhow.
keep the celica.... save up and buy an mr2.... then u have the best of both worlds smile.gif except you get te build the deuce how you want it.
^^^ x2 get both! use what you learn from the celicas 3s to better build the mr2, that way you can worry about rwd traction issues haha

you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!(2:27:32 AM) edit: please f*cking work, f*ck, sh*t, piss(2:28:08 AM) edit: that did the trick
haha yeah, i love the celica, if i had the money id attempt AWD then i would most definitely keep it. im gunna hold onto it for a while i guess. maybe ill win the lottery or something. i just wanna want to be able to whip the car around a corner sideways. most of my friends have either rwd or awd but the funny thing is im still faster, but they have alot of fun getting sideways. on the highway i beat my buddys modded 300zx TT and a 4.9l supercharged cobra. yeah, i dont think i could bare to see my car with someone else owning it. i figured id get the keep it response, thanks for the advice.

whipping it sideways almost always results in whipping it into a tree. dont do it man. especially in an mr2 that loves to do 180s.

Honestly, getting cars sideways gets old. All you need is one mistake and BAM! Sick with the Celica, and pioneer ways to "fix" the traction problems. tongue.gif

I have an 93 mr2 and i love it, driving with the t top down feels awesome. I still have my celica, i dont think i'll ever ditch it. why not have both of them? The deuce don't cost that much.

Nice, yeah i bet its fun. trust me id like both but i already have two vehicles and the celica has way to much money in it to afford another. my 99 tacoma is my DD and winter vehicle so it stays on the road year round.
and what i would want to do to the mr2 would cost to much also. i would like a 500hp mr2 over and 500hp celica... unless it was awd. damn.

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.

Keep the engine in the Celica,

If you want a RWD buy a 2JZ/1JZ car smile.gif

JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
MR2's SUCK for going sideways... FYI. They do more 360's and 180's than sideways... especially the SW20. I personally really hate the feel of the MR2's... more specifically, the second gen MR2's. Too ass-heavy... poor weight balance and too agressive of weight shifts. IMO of course. I do however... really love the 1st gens and 3rd gens... but they still suck for drifting overall. I mean... if you plan to just go straight really fast... then they're great... but I personally don't like them as a driver's car.

I couldnt agree any more. I just like the mr2 cause #1 being rare, #2 it looks hawt imo, and #3 it's a Toyota. biggrin.gif

One day when I'm rich it's going in a glass case.

O yea btw I'm selling a 91 Mr2 if your interested...

proud =3sgte SWAPPED= '95 Celica ST owner [calling it the GT2 or half-trac]309,000 miles n' ....dead-> ALIVE AGAIN!! ~14,000 miles driven
MR2 = Snap oversteer =] Fun fun.. just make sure you know how to recover...
My mr2 is fun as hell to drive and I am in the top 5 times at every auto-x I go to. They dont drift real easily but its not impossible to do.

that's not fun when you're racing. frown.gif and especially not fun with as much horsepower as itchy's planning on. To me, the 2nd gen MR2 chassis design has a power limit... beyond it, the car just becomes unstable and NOT fun to drive. I'd say around 400 horsepower is when the car gets very jumpy. It's like back in the day when my dad used to race a Starlet with a turbo 3TC. Scary...
