I got a great deal on some Boston SX55s a while ago but they were for my old car. I never got a chance to install them on it and I am hoping to replace the blown speakers on my celi i just bought. How can I fit in 2, 5 1/4" speakers? How to anyone? Thanks!

You can use some MDF (medium density fiberboard, from lowes, home depot, etc.,) and cut out a spacer for it. Outside diameter the size of the opening (most are 8" but they can vary, so check) and inside diameter 5.25" or whatever size speaker you have. Some wood screws and sealant and you're all set.

what stock speaker system do you have though? 4, 6, or 8 speaker? my guess is the 4.

so if im getting this correctly, the rear speakers are 6.5" and the front are 8"?

the door and rear speakers are 6.5" stock. the speakers in the door however are placed in an 8" hole. so you need some sort of adapter for them to fit. that is why it is possible to mount 8" subs in the doors if the subs are shallow enough. personally i want to do that but i won't until i can find some 8 speaker sytem door panels.

Alllright, progress! I custom made some speaker spacers out of 5/8 MDF. ALOT of work. Bleh. My problem now is that, if anyone has taken apart their door panel and noticed their speakers were sitting on a gray plastic brace thing.

I NEED to know if that brace comes flush even with the door panel and the door frame. I mean, am I going to have 5/8th of an inch to place the MDF or am I going to have to cut out some of the plastic on the door (I DONT WANT TO DO THAT)

Edit: I had a new idea, I could cut the MDF in half! then I would have two identical spacers.. but would that get rid of enough space? and is MDF still stable after you cut it in half or only at its full width?

Edit Edit: I couldnt slice the wood (too dangerous), I ended up sanding where the wood would touch the door panels.

Already have the driver door panel back on! Sounds awesome!

Completed! I have both door panels back on, sounds awesome!

I'd take pictures of it but it looks the same as yalls door panels, (better sound).

Now I have a new quest:

Since I fixed the front speakers, I can tell now that the back speakers are a little blown. When the bass is up a bit, they kinda buzz just a tiny bit.

When getting new speakers what do I need to take into account?

well depends, i was taught that the speakers you have in back should be a deeper sound then the ones in front.... the fronts are supposed to have high frequency....this way you have a high range of sound...
