Ok.. i'm getting four speakers.. 6.5in hopefully around 75-100RMS than two subs with 200RMS.. i''m not going for killer sound, thats why i don't need them to be like 500RMS.. but will my subs over power my speakers? Since i listin to a wide range of music my idea was to put in a switch for when i want my subs on and when i want them off. So if i'm listing to rock, than just switch the subs off, than if i have rap on, just switch the subs on, will this work?

yea you can do that, and i dont think the 2 subs will overpower ur 6.5's... if they do then just get a smaller amp to them, but even my subs dont overpower my mids/highs too much

I installed a kill switch to all my systems I had in the past actually, it's a great idea. Just get a little 12v switch and put it inline with the remote wire that goes to your amps. This wire is what tells the amp to turn on in the first place so if you flick it off, the amp thinks it's time to stop working.

easy solution is a line level volume control to the sub amp... this way you can control your sub(s) and get them where you want easily depending on the mood your in

Yes, an amp control dial is #1 whenever I buy an amp. Quick adjustments of the bass make a world of difference.

Why wouldn't you want the subs on when listening to rock? Subs make EVERYTHING better. I listen to Death metal and can't wait to get my new subs in.
I had subs in my old car and it's never been the same without them.

I listen to everything but rap/hip hop (mostly classic rock) and you need the subs on all of the time. Then you EQ out much of the bass from the other speakers so that everything is clearer.
If you're concerned about different levels of bass with different styles of music, put an amp volume control in. My amp came with one but I didn't bother installing it (looked tacky) so I just put up with less than perfect bass levels on some songs

the lines they are talking about are bass remotes... you can adjust the bass boost and sometimes the frequency, they do help a lot.

do you put them on the amp or the speaker itslef? what if i got like.. somesort of equlizer? Would that work like the same, so i could fine tune every sound?

These are generally all settings on the amp. But a lot of amps have a facility for a remote volume control. Your head unit will have the equaliser built in.

yeah, the two amps i'm getting both have the controll.. however, it will all be hooked up to a carcomputer so i won't have a headunit at all. but i guess a computer will have the best equlizer i could get.

Don't put the switch interrupting the + line to your amp or you will blow your switch or restrict the power getting to your amp. Put the switch on the REMOTE line that goes to your amp from your head unit.

Most bass control dials are for specific amps only. Some amps come with them, and some you have to buy separately, like my PG amp.

i have my system controlled by my carPC
its an NVidia board w/ crazy cool audio software/hardware
i have a 5.1 setup basically, with each speaker has its own volume
and then after that, a Master Volume.
so the sub can be turned up and down independently from anything else, just like the front left, or rear right. much like balance and fade, but not.
then it goes to the master volume, which sets the OVER ALL VOLUME. and then i have a slider for my Xover freq. anywhere from 50Hz to 500Hz.

maybe your carPC can do something similar.

only downside is i have three RCAs (front pair, rear pair, and center/sub) running from the comp to my amps
