What is the best size of tire to put on 17 and also 18 inch rims so that it would looks good and not rub or anything on a stock hieght car , would it throw off the speedometer??

also , incase i wanted to upgrade my suspension , what is the smallest drop possible ? like 1 inch or even half ... and if so , then what tire size should be used ?

i have the later and cannot complain, you could prolly drop 1-1.5 inches no prob, on mine i see a problem with the wheel plastics which you can just bend(dent) in so theres more clearance

most tire places *should* let you test fit some tires before you commit to buying them, from what i know/believe it depends alot on your width and offset

speedometer wise, your talking like 3-4 mph off at like 70/80 ish speeds so i wouldn't worry about that, unless you go smaller, the wheel wells wont fit too big of tires comfortably to have an issue there

comes down to which look you prefer better, i for one like a lower profile wide tire on a larger rim, others like different, find something that is happy and go with a common tire size for price reasons, if your unsure, get some cheap tires to try for a while to see how you like the look/ride, if both are bearable, great, if the ride quality goes to hell, get some bigger tires

really low profile tires, dubbed "ruber bands" aka what i used to have are AWESOME for cornering but watch out for them pot holes......

i did some reasearch on the site ( should have done that before i put the post) and that tire size seems to be everybody's favourite , my question to you is what is the "x7.5" and "x8" that u put after the sizes ??

225 width of tire
40 percentage of width that is the thickness
18 wheel size/inner size of tire
8 width of wheel

so 225/40/18x8 =)

one more things , will the speedo be 3-4 miles faster , or slower than it shows

bigger tire diameter speedo will show slower
smaller tire speedo will show faster

a 205 tire to a 225 tire will maybe be off by 3mph

I wouldn't go with 35/18 tyres, I'm relacing them with 40/18 tyres.

Still have the 225/35/18 tyres (Toyo Proxes) but after 9000 miles the thread is gone ,stupid 3S-GTE eating up all of the thread :D. Anyhow, wil make pictures from the side before and after the new tyres are on. The 225/40/18 will go to the back first because otherwise it will look even more funny with bigger front then rear tyres.

Then it will be another 5k miles before the front tyres are worn down I think.

why not a 35 on an 18 rim? the difference i notice from a 225 40 to a 225 35 isint that much, and the 35's dont rub where as the 40's did. what offset do you have? and for 18's i wouldnt recommend going less that 225 again, but the 35's i have on now seem to work nicely

I have 18x7.5J wheels with an ET48 offset. In the front I have 15mm spacers making the ET effectively 33 and in the back a 20mm spacer making the ET 28.

Since my rims are .5" smaller then yours (i assume you have an ET 35) I will have more room on the inside and outside of the tyre.

ah i went with a 30mm offset so whatever difference that comes out to

will theese sizes fit in the car with the soft stock springs ?

yes, fitting is easy with stock ride height(springs) issues occur when lowering, what i have at full turn fits BARELY dropping the car 2.25 inches about in the front and rear the fenders have to be slightly rolled, but you have a coupe/vert rear end as well and from what i hear its a bit wider than hatches, imo a 1.5 inch drop is nice on these cars

Black rims + polished lip always looks good on a White car. These will do just fine.

But what about the offset/ET? It doesnt state that anywere.

yea...i have no clue with the offset.....actually i dont know what that even means or waht size? offset i need.....ill try to find the compans website or something later....

If you were to get 17's do not get 225/40R-17 tires.

I mean, you can get 225 if you want, but for a 7" wide wheel (which is what most 17's are anyways) I would suggest 215/45R-17
