I am installing a little cold air intake in on my ST and am curious about the temp sensor? do u even need it >?
ST intake - 6G Celicas Forums
yes, just drill a hole for it
ditto - if the kit is made for the car it will have the hole already

hi ya.
i am a parts supplier in th UK, and had a few Hyundai Tiburon (97 - 01) intakes in stock, so i trial fitted it to my ST.
There is a hole for the intake temp, but you just have to blank off the two breather hoses.

such a clean engine... you've inspired me to clean it one of these days

thanks bud. that was the first stage of cleaning. glad to see there are no leeks after a week. I will clean it again this weekend. There are still a few stubborn areas.
I just can't wait til I have collected all the parts for the turbo.

lol, thats a cool intake but did you have to move any engine parts around? i lloked in my bay and i dont think that intake would fit...
hey dude...no it's a tight fit, but i did not have to relocate anything.
You will obviously have to remove the whole of the old air box assembly.
Cheers.

lol cool
thanks
thanks
no worries mate....
what exactly do you mean blank off the breather hoses?
Yikes, that looks like it sits pretty low. I would definitly consider the water-proof filter that K&N offers
man that looks NICE. would it work with an auto or will it hit the trans?

Hi ya. the kit comes with two hoses that connect to the little pipes off the main pipe.
All i did was blank the hoses with big bolts and jubilee clips..then tucked them out of sight.
Hope this helps.
The filter is a K&N, and I will take off the bottol part of the pipework in the winter and make it a Short Ram Intake.
Jay.

another thing - if you use a different filter its wider and will rub against your radiator hose that it sits next to. be careful

You wouldn't have to get a water proof filter. You could buy a bypass valve that sits in the middle of your intake.
yeah, buy an AEM bypass valve and replace the coupler that is right after the breather. You'll be fine. Mine sits lower than that one

no it wont work with auto, i have and auto and that intake didnt work, but you can modify a 93 accord CAI to work beautifully, search the forums for the thread, its popular and new.

^do explain...
and I could make you a CAI it costs $30 and takes 15-20 mins to do the cuts and drill the wholes, the longest part about the install is taking out the stock box and putting the CAI in, even that would only take an hour if your going slow...
gains are worth it (sound and looks, not really performance)
...not "that much work" lol

i just yanked the snorkel out from the stock airbox bottom and suck through the triangular opening. sounds nice, little bit of snarl but not too bad or loud, nice change from stock in terms of performance and feel, and it was free! i just dont want to cut holes in the car is all, not that i'm afraid to i just dont want to. i doubt i'd have a big difference from now to the ebay intake anyways. im sucking air from under the battery/behind the headlight area whch isnt very warm.

cutting holes in the car?!!
none of that...
if you get 2.5" piping it slides into the hole allready there from the stock airbox, i know what you mean by custom intake now, lol i like the idea, i never even got the point of that box in the fender, it doesnt even have holes...

its probably something like a resonator, to quiet the loud mouth intake.

the hole to the resonator on the prizm/corolla is a little smaller than that on the celica i thought, but i could be wrong. other than that i think what works for the ST works for me, the two engine bays are eerily similar.

Scepter sells a breather filter for $9.00.
It looks like a mini cone filter. My understanding of the
AEM bypass valve is simply that if the main filter gets wet it becomes easier for air to be pulled through the bypass filter.
Is this correct or does the bypass valve actually have a valve that closes off the lower part of the tube?
If not, these Spectre breather filters are a lot more affordable!
