Turbo on a stock trans ST? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #48690 16 posts Started by cnelson
I don't even know if it would be able to done.. i was thinking about turbo-ing my stock 94 st trans (automatic) just run low boost to make sure the trans and engine can handle it.. i was thinking like 8psi would probably be safe what kind of hp and tourqe increase would i see for about 8psi? And how high can i boost with everything stock?

8PSI using what turbo?

8PSI on a Garret T25 would be alot less then with a T88. As example. Dont think a 7A-FE has enough capacity to turn a T88 around biggrin.gif

JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
well thats my question what kind of turbo would work well on a 7A-FE?

"Drive Well......Drift Better"
not to be a dick about it or anything but there is a search button and it does work and theres tons of information on what you would need to turbo a 7A.

but to answer your question a Garret T3 Super 60 would work pretty well. and as for the auto tranny there is a guy on here that has an auto 7afte you should ask him if he had to do anything

oobe and trd94 are a few that come to mind

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
ok on my last dyno with 15psi and a t3-t4 57 trim (.63 hot .50 cold) and my 370 rc injectors tuned with a safcII i put out 207hp and 214tq on 94 octane the tranni takes it but the tq converter is working over time , i drive it daily so i tuned it down to 10psi and the tq converter works great , the best thing for the tranni is to keep the fluid clean and the tranni cool , i installed a tranni cooler to help with this and i change the fluid in the spring and fall along with a freash filter. i run daily on this setup and it has been almost a year and a half with boost.

you just tighten your continuator which is behind your muffler bearings.

nonono. thats not the best way to do it.
you have to adjust the magnetic drag control on the turbos compressor housing, which slows the turbine down and makes less boost.

i have a external wastegate with a 4psi spring in it , a manual boost controler to allow me to adjust the pressure going into the wastegate , the lowest i can go is 4psi the highest i can go is 20psi , thats as far as my boost gauge will read wink.gif as far as adjusting the psi all you do is turn a knob on the mbc , not to hard biggrin.gif for us car nerds rolleyes.gif
