steering throwing to the side whn accelarating - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #48652 21 posts Started by njccmd2002
I have noticed that whenever am in a full stop, when i put 1st gear and accelarate. the steering wheel throws to the side, unless i keep it steady. Is this something normal, or a bad sign, or are there things to look for wyhen i go underneath?

Thanks in advance for all your help///

it depends (for me) how hard i start off... sometimes yes i do have to control the steering wheel

if you start off like a granny does it still do it? if not i think its 'working as intended'

it does not do it if i start like granny. It will only do it if i start racing style,

1- one of your tires needs air

2- that's part of owning a FWD car smile.gif
torque steer?

It could also be you axles. I noticed it and thought it was the air in the tire, but then my axle went on me.

How do you check for worn suspension bushes? If mine are bad is that something I can replace, or do I have to get a suspension shop to do it.
As already mentioned in this post, it's Torque Steer. You've got a front wheel drive car, live with it LOL

Mine always does it shifting from first to second. (Auto) I think it makes it seem faster biggrin.gif

You can lead a horse to water, but there is no way your VCR will benifit from it.

this like launching at like 3000 rpm and screeching the tires?

2015 Subaru WRX. World Rally Blue/Black2001 Honda S2000. Spa Yellow/Black
2500 rpm, no screeching. Sometimes it does it sometimes not. I am planning on checkin the axles and suspension bushes. I can live with it...

its torque steer... happens to most (if not all) FWD cars. Your putting the clutch in to fast and its gripping hard, and if your wheel is even slightly turn it will pull, and turn that way hard..

nothing is wrong with your car.

Your auto ST doesn't have torque steer, theres something wrong.

Mmm torque steer. on the highway when I punch it, then once the turbo spools, it wants to pull me into the other lane. its fun. remember 2 and 10.
