speed limiter - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #48253 12 posts Started by goferris
i am not necessarily saying that i need to go any faster than 130 but i figure that when i do the swap in the future i will want to see how fast i can get her out on the salt flats here in utah
any one done this? just something that i was thinking about.

Call me a traitor! See if I care. ;)
if the ECU doesn't know how fast you're going, it can't limit speed.
hint: speed sensor to ECU (orange or gray wire II2 pin 17)

doesn't the gt gearbox only allow us to go to like 135 anyway? When im goin like 85 im at 4500.

Other than that, just cut the wire.

If the ECU doesn't know the speed, it will also not be able to adjust the amount of assist on the power steering. Example: if you're going fast, the amount of assist will be the same as when you're parking the car. This has, needless to say, some disadvantages. Right?
the ECU has no control over the power steering system

I have to admit I agree with

it's just... not a good idea laugh.gif
I can't tell you what will happen if you cut that signal.

I've heard that if you cut the signal, it will cause your speedometer to not work. but that you can cut the wire, and install a switch so that you can have the speedo work when you want, then when you want to go faster than the governer then you can flip the switch... you'll just never know how fast you're going...
