Anyone have 215/40-17s and springs - 6G Celicas Forums

Can I have a witness that 215/40-17 wheels/tires (or larger) will work on a 94/1.8/liftback with 1" drop (or lower).

Tirerack can't be sure about backspacing and such. Thanks.
I have 205/40R-17 tires with about 1.5"-2" drop and I don't have any issues. I would suggest 215/45R-17 though, it is a very common size here. It is much more comfortable to ride on.

Thanks. Tirerack's got lots of 40's but I'll check out the 45's in the interests of wheel bearings and not having to pee every ten miles.

I'd be even more elated if someone has 215's or wider, perhaps with an offset near 40mm...
That setup should work fine....My tires and wheels will be here on Wed. I orderd 215/45/17 My car is also lowered at 1.5 /1.75...

Awesome, let me know how it goes. Enjoy the sticky icky icky tires.
im currently running 225/45/17 with eibach sportlines (1.5")
35 offset. the front tires touch the rear part of the wheelwell plastic at full lock.
other than that, i have no issues, and the ride quality, and overall grip is MILES better than to 215/45's, which were better than the 205/40's that i started with back in the day.

Ah thanks pres. Feel better now and ordered.
I'm sorry, but what's "backspacing?"

Yup I've got 215/45/17's and 1" in the rear, no problems whatsoever.
Thanks GTS.

Threadjacker! Backspacing is the distance from where the wheel mounts on your hub to the wheel half-width.

Yeah, it's a weird measurement. Tirerack has a great tech article about it. But basically it tells you how far in or out your wheels will be, since wheels all have different widths.

235/40's on 17x8 +35 work great even lowered...probably the best setup for the 6th gen
