For example, in a 3sgte setup
Engine head -> Exhaust Manifold -> Turbo (hot side) -> Downpipe -> Mid pipe (w/ or w/o cat) -> Cat Back

downpipe connects the manifold (which attaches to the head) to the exhaust pipes under the car.
