O2 Sensor Question - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #46772 2 posts Started by 946thGenGT
I searched around but wasn't really able to find an answer... I went to the parts store recently and asked for a pre-cat O2 sensor for a 94 Celica 2.2L, and was sold a universal sensor of some no-name brand, which is fine because it was cheaper and that's what I was going for. However, the sensor they sold me has four wires and the one I'm looking to replace only has one. I saw one other topic regarding this where someone explained that a four-wire sensor is a heated sensor where two of the wires are for the heater, one ground and one signal... anyways, my question is this. Should I return the sensor and hope they can get me a one-wire sensor or can I make the four-wire one work? Will it work if I just hook up the ground wire and the signal wire?

Thanks.
return the sensor and ask for a universal single wire bosch sensor. they are a lot cheaper then the 4 wire sensors.
