i want to develop a sub frame using CAD im planning on designing it so that you could put the conversion in the GT or ST without any major fabrication, is this of interest to anyone?

sounds like a plan. any idea when it will be done? cus im about to get suspension soon.
sounds good. I'd get it so I can build a LHD car in socal with no problems for registering it.

would be cool...BUT this project doesn't go along with the words

"without major fabrication"....regardless of purchased subframe or not its going to require major fabrication and welding...

How are you going to insure and guarantee the integrity and safety of the piece you're going to make?

realize if it breaks....law suit to more then you could afford

either you will have to weld it to the frame or be bolted, but being bolted is something i don't know if that would be considered, because your going to loose structural integrity in the frame, you will have to sleeve the frame of reinforce it, what i meant in no majorfabrication was you wouldn't have to construct a sub frame your self!
Unfortunately the frame is the easy part. knowing where to place the subframe and secure it is the hard part.

It seems like you could use a couple existing holes to align the subframe and then weld other parts for strength.... I don't know the specifics of how much of the rear needs to be removed to make room for the subframe though. (I have an ST205 subframe in my garage, but no Celica to compare it to! laugh.gif )
