Up if you can get a good cold air feed,

Down if you cant and dont drive through many deep puddles biggrin.gif

But dont put it down behind the radiator as it gets very hot down there
this type of "down"

known as a cold air intake.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.
You'll never hit a puddle to cause any air intake to suck up too much water. But, I like the "up" kind. Short = better response. And it's easier when you work on the car to yank it out of there. I got tired of taking the intire cold air system out every time I worked on the motor.

up u get better respone and its less piping air goes in faster. take out the stock air box and jux add a hose or sumsort of intanke pipe leading to the front or where air can travel
I went with a combo....

The cold air seemed to be better but I was afraid of puddles, didn't like having to go under the car to check/change filter, it came loose once and started scraping the hole I widened.. and it looks more "showy" to have it out...
