Well yeah, was in CostCo today and they had an advertisment saying "We take tire safety to the next level with....NITROGEN Tire Inflation!" I read the flyer everything seems lagit, question that comes to mind tho is it worth it? Is it actually better than filling you tire with air? How much should it be?

i got my tires filled with nitrogen for free, someone i know works at a car dealership. he was saying the nitrogen doesn't exspand like air does, and your tires will stay inflated longer.

It is air...because the atmosphere is 72 percent nitrogen. Unlike air it is pure nitrogen, so it doesnt have smaller oxygen molecules. Basically...nitrogen molecules are larger and they diffuse through the tire wall slower than oxygen and the other trace gases, letting your tires stay inflated longer. Is it worth the extra price? Not really since air is free.

Using nitrogen might offer a small advantage over regular air, but since air is mostly nitrogen, I wouldn't pay anything extra for it.

Costco dosen't charge extra for it. I have it in my 15s and they
seem to keep consent pressure better than regular comp air.
Costco has good tire prices but count on an hour at least
to get any service IE: rotation, flat repair...
The one here doesn't make appointments and they are always busy.

It might be worth it for racing applications were you need a constant tire pressure. I know a guy that checks his tires several times a day on race day trying to make sure they are right were he wants them. I'm not that picky, but some are.

Nitrogen is more compact than the regular "air" we use in our tires. The good side about nitrogen filled tires is that they will not expand as much.

EX. While autocrossing my tire pressure would rise up 3-4 PSI with regular air. Most of the time their unbalanced. With Nitrogen the most Ive ever seen my tire pressure go up is.. 1-2 PSI. The pressure all around stays more constant.

so in short, yes they have a minimal advantage over regular air.. but if you get it for free.. nothing wrong in using it.

Nitrogen filled tires increases mpg too.

regular air increase pressure by 15psi in my tires after one run at the drag strip
started at 20psi ended at 35psi lol

see most gas stations around here have "free air" compressors. Pull in, pump up them tires, drive off. Chargin .75 for the most abundant natural resource is for them gays.

If you heat up nitrogen it's going to expand the same as air.

Technically speaking this is what you would want. You only air out the tires to aid in launch but the tires also drag when they are too low and you are at speed. So if your tires gradually go back to 35PSI as you get down the track this is optimum.
