hey guys recently had my one of my e-brake cable changed and now when i pull my hand brakes I only get three clicks and its tight but the problem is when I let go of my brake pedals the car shifts alittle and then it stops sometimes it makes a weird noise. Any thoughts guys thanks in advance.

when they changed it, sounds like the adjusted the cables. The pads on mine allow slight movement but then lock on full. Doesn't really make a noise but I can imagine its a slight grinding noise?

sounds like it's too tight. Just adjust the cable yourself, it takes about 5-10 minutes andit's easy.

it does make a slight grind noise sometimes. and batman it does seem tight but they told me that is normal and it is good to have a tight cable then a loose cable and also how do I adjust the cable and is it easy cause im a dumbarse
ok real easy - should take 10 minutes or so.
first, pop off the shifter surround. Then take the center console off - 2 screws (arrows), 2 bolts in the console compartment, then lift it out with the ebrake up. Make sure you unplug the light to the ashtray before you take the console out.

then it will look like this

connected to the passenger side of the ebrake handle there is a bolt with 2 nuts on it (arrow)

take the top one off (10mm) and loosen the other one (10mm also), then pull the ebarke up to see if you like how far up it goes. The more you loosen it, the higher it will go up. When you have it at the acceptable height, put the top nut back on and tighten it to the other.
reassemble and you are done. Questions ?

Yes my handbrake was tight for the first few weeks but now its back to normal but i had no sound.
also sorry for highjacking but batman what is that box with the yellow cable.

I don't think it matters how many clicks you have to be honest.
Mine failed on the MOT cos it could be pulled all the way up (took alot of force to do it and normally 3/4 was enough to apply the brake) but the mechanic adjusted it and now mine will only raise about 2 inches, but providing it engages and disengages then 3 clicks will be fine. Why adjust it?

as long as its connected somehow it'll engage at one point or another. adjusting it is really just for your own preference.

my hayne's manual says it should be 4-7 clicks... mine has been rolling a bit on inclines too, and I counted my clicks today to be 10 when I first pull up the handle, and if I pull hard enough I can get 13 clicks out of it! I'm gonna try adjusting it tonight. I'll let you know how it works out.

ok, I'm done. I re-adjusted mine so it goes up about 6-7 clicks now, but if I try hard, I can pull it up to 10... oh well, close enough for me. it took maybe 15 minutes. it wasn't hard. just like batman said, take out the shifter surround, remove the two screws, remove the two 12mm bolts inside the armrest, pull out the center console, remove the one 10mm bolt, loosen/tighten the other 10mm bolt, replace the 10mm bolt, replace the center console, replace the bolts and screws, replace the shifter surround, you're done!
the only thing I had a problem with was getting the center console back. there are two little tabs sticking out the front of it that go into two holes on the other part of the center console. in order to get them in, you have to position the center console behind the other piece, lift up the rear of it, slide it forward into place, then lower the back end of it. it wasn't hard once I figured it out. took me like 5 minutes to get it back in.

i mean if it didnt make that creaking noise it wouldnt bother me but it creaks. and you can also hear it disengaging when I pull the ebrake down.
cool, just readjusted my handbrake so I do not need to pull it up as high now
. Only takes a couple of minutes. My car moves an inch too before the ebrake engages on slopes.

mine creaks when I let it out too. just not when I pull it up... at least not that I notice

UK requires 3-4 clicks to pass the yearly MOT test as it's supposed to be an instant brake.
