Electrical Problem - 6G Celicas Forums

I've had this problem for a while and it's really pissing me off! I posted on it ages ago but got no feedback.

Anyways The battery power is lost whenever the car is off. What I mean by this is that I lose all stored radio channels, and my alarm goes off. It doesn't happen as soon as I switch her off - sometimes 5 mins, sometimes 5 hours. The car starts first time every time, and I checked the battery and recharged it a few days ago. (all in good condition).

Any thoughts?
I had this problem, there was a lot of corrosion on the terminals. Check inbetween the connections to see if its solid.

i am awesome
Yes that kind of goes without saying Andason. Obviously I cleaned the terminals when I recharged the battery! You had this exact same problem?
well mine wouldnt start some of the times though >wink.gif>

alrighty if you have an after market sterio you could have mixed the 2 power wires and when the car shuts off the sterio presets will get wruined it happened to my sisters 89 ford escort gt when i installed the sterio all i had to do was switch the power wires and everything worked fine >smile.gif> but about your alarm resetting who hooked everything up??? you might want to check your ground wires ect... just my 0.02 cent >biggrin.gif> hope this helps
It's the stock alarm system so I'm guessing it was either a robot or a 5 foot japanese person that hooked it up >biggrin.gif>

I have played with the stereo wiring, but everything is soldered and heat shrunk so I doubt thats it. I'm thinking its a dodgy battery.

The one other possibility is that a switch I made for the power antenna is shorting, but then that would blow a fuse I would think. I have got an LED in without a resistor but I doubt that would bring the whole electrical system crashing down. I guess I'll just get the toyota people to look at it while its in for a service, but that will cost me $80 AUD per hour >frown.gif> damn ripoffs.
Hey Kamix, did you check the ground from the battery to the cars body?. Other than that I think it might be time for a new battery.
