I just came back from the Toyota dealership to get prices on some suspension work and one of the things that they quoted me on, which is absurd, was an oil filter for $100! That's only for the part! Then there's the fuel filter for $75 and a stock air filter for $50!

Does anyone have/know where i can get part numbers for servicing supplies, such as oil filters, fuel filters, etc? I have a '94 3SGE JDM hatch and i'm having a hell of a time finding the right part numbers in order to order them from Toyotaworld, which after finding the oil filters for the 5SFE at $5 each, is a much better option. Thanks!

Toyota can be pretty ridiculous with small parts, but it sounds like they quoted you the wrong prices; are those in US dollars? The oil filters are $3.95US at the Toyota dealership here. Just by looking at them though, I don't know if the Toyota filters are really all that high quality. You'd probably be better off with Nippon or Denso, or Fram Tough guard if they have it there.

so i can pretty much order a different type of filter as long as it fits the threads? Is the 3SGE threads the same as the other 6Gc's (3/4-16)?

I have for my 7AFE:
- genuine 3SGTE oil filter (If you wish part number, I have one extra piece at home for next oil change, so no problem post it )
- fuel filter is Bosch (sorry, I don't remember more than brand)
- air filter is K&N high-flow one (from e-bay)...
so... yes you can use anything what fits , no problem at all.

btw.: stock oil filter for 3SGE/3SFE is 90915-10001 (see, same stock filter for two engines), stock 3SGE/3SFE fuel pump filter is 23217-74021 and stock 3SFE/3SGE/3SGTE air filter 17801-74060. Enjoy

BTW, i looked them up on Toyotaworld, and although some of them have been superseded by another part number, it says that it belongs on a 2.2L Camry. That's still good right? Not that I'm doubting your word or anything but I just want to make sure that i get the right ones. But at this price, i can't complain! I got all 3 of them for under $25!

No problem, about sure/not-sure that is right part. One example... I have for my 1.8 7AFE two possibilities (by the book):

90915-10001 (yes that same as for you) from Japan or 90080-91058 from USA. So in fact that 90915-10001 oil filter is damn universal one (euro 7AFE, euro 3SGE, JDM 3SGE, JDM 3SFE and US 5SFE + US 7AFE is also on the list). So I believe you will receive right one


About brake pads: sure I have . However, I changed my ones 6 weeks ago and I can tell you genuine pads are ridiculously expensive (225USD for complete set for my ST, that means front and rear ones). That's why I ordered set from TEXTAR (one German manufacturer) for 1/2 price and I'm happy . Never mind, you have asked for genuine ones. Here they are for your 94' SS-II:

front: 04465-20230
rear: 04466-32010

...again same ones you should find on Camry, some Lexus, Avensis, etc... no problem

Once again, you saved me. The oil filter is confirmed. The rear pads are also confirmed and not as expensive as you think. At Toyotaworld they're $35 for the rear. However the number for the fronts don't exist. BUT, as the rears are for the Camry, would it be safe to assume that the fronts would also be Camry, which in this case they have and the amount is also $35. Sorry, i don't have the number but i searched under 94 Camry brake components.

That's weird... same front pads has SS-III model... However this is for ST202/ST203 SS-I (and Camry ) 04465-20140, or for later ST202 CV, SS-II it's 04465-33060.

Nope. Double miss. Perhaps its just that Toyotaworld doesn't carry it and not that the numbers don't work. i'll go ahead and order the other things that you managed to find for me anyway. you just saved me a bundle of money! I should send it to you......but then i wouldn't be able to buy more parts, now would I?

It has to be a little more specific than matching threads. The filter also has to fit the flange on the car, and the seal needs to be in the right place. There are plenty of aftermarket filters though and the celica one is pretty common (my lawn mower uses the exact same filter); most companies that make filters have cross reference catalogs; you can usually go to their website and put in the make and model of your car or part number of other mfr's filter and it will give you the correct part number.

Well, the good news is that what started of as costing me 28,938Mts (+/-$1,100) in parts, will now cost me about $200, thanks to Malpaso. I have to give Jeff at TW a call just to confirm some other parts.
The bad news is that after speaking to the local Toyota dealer and i informing them that i will be providing the original Toyota parts myself, they stated that they would not be able to install the pieces as they were not purchased through them, according to their policy! Their concerns were that due to pirate copies of so called Toyota parts, it makes them responsible should one of the parts turn out to be defective.

So in order to get my car fixed properly, i will have to buy some of the larger and more complicated parts through Toyota so that they can install them, and use a different mechanic to install the other simpler items and just pay the labor. Win some, lose some. Man, third-world countries suck.

Sad to hear that... however, replace air filter is piece a cake and same with oil one. Change pads is easy too... only one thing you mentioned I have never changed myself. It's that fuel filter.
