Fuel filter problem - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #43491 6 posts Started by n1ckz0r
okay, i feel really stupid asking this question, where is the fuel filter on a 7afe? I know its not IN the engine, but where on the car is it? And what kind should I get, I only ask this problem becuase my car keeps sputtering but not misfiring, and it seems like it only does it when i push the gas, or after 3k RPM. hmmm...

thanks

there are two fuel filters in the celica st. One of them is in the gas tank.

the other one is located on the firewall in the engine bay. .. Look at your fuel rails and follow that big hose to this black metal canister looking thing.

how do i change the one in the gas tank!
I only know of one that on the firewall and I would not play with either of them unless I had a fuel problem. At work Toyota sent us something say only change fuel filters if there a fuel problem because it is easy to break the fuel lines. the only thing I know that in the gas tank is the fuel pump.If there is not fuel problem leave it alone.
the 7afe's fuel filter is on the firewall side, its not in the gas tank. If you know what you're doing, its a good idea to change it, especially if you've got high mileage on yours. Otherwise if you doubt your mechanical skills, bring it to a shop to change it wink.gif

whats intank is a screen, just a prefilter for larger debris, but that too can become clogged.
