Hey guys!! i am trying to install my new radiator but it came with the golden and black little tubes so i don't know where they attach. any ideas?. i don't see those in my oem radiator.

There for the automatic tranny, if u have a manual just cap them, (thats what my autotech teacher did to mine anyway). Its a totally separate chamber, I don't believe it will hurt anything.

yeah i had the same problem.. they came with 2 rubber black caps on them.. I guess I just live them on there and not worry about them.

If u had the time and the money, hook them up to the oil lines for cooling.

Just leave it like that, It would be fine! I have a 5spd and i replaced my rad last month. I was confused too at first. AT radiators are bigger and better cooling than the std.

Really? That wouldn't contaminate your oil and deteriorate the detergents in your oil?

Its just like an oil cooler but instead its for your auto tranny fluid. Like I said its just "something" you could probbally do, but then again if you think about it.
The radiator gets hot and I am assuming that its for warming up your tranny fluid, or cooling it if it gets too hot. I dunno. Just cap it.

you can run any fluid through those lines, it will help keep that fluid at the same temp as the coolant. warm it or cool it, you can use it to cool the engine oil, or the very least keep it no hotter than the engine coolant.

oh ok that makes sense then, so really it is just for fluid to go through that part of the radiator and just for that other fluid to flow through, right? I didn't know that, which is why I was asking. That's pretty cool then and very handy to know. I was thinking it would mix with the fluid, but then that wouldn't make much sense then, considering it is mostly used with an automatic.... So I see now.

the oil cooler is for cooling the ATF via the radiator. ATF needs more cooling than gear oil. Im using still my auto radiator for my std conversion. You do not even need caps or bolts for the metal tubes, all you do is get the hose used for the oil cooling and just loop it back from one side to the other for standard trannies.

i should mention that generally the automatic radiator has a slightly higher cooling capacity since it has to deal with the engine heat AND transmission heat.

When I pulled the two small black hoses off the back of mine, oil came out, not tranny fluid. Help me understand this, if those lines coming out of the front of the engine/tranny, going into the radiator are for cooling the ATF, why would it be oil in there. Obviously, the two larger black hoses take the anti-freeze throughout the block, but this is the first oil cooler built into the radiator that I have seen. I am putting a new one (actually recycled) in this weekend, so hopefully, those two extra ports are on there. I didn't ask the seller if they had an auto or std.
