Who else has this problem? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #4289 7 posts Started by Zephyr
I had a 91 GTS for four years and the driver's door never wanted to stay open unless I took a few seconds and made sure it was all the way open and resting in place before I let go. I always thought it was a quirk of the car, cause it wasn't in the greatest shape, and I dreamed of the day I'd get a new car thinking a different one would solve that problem.

I got a 96 GT recently and the door has the same issues. Everytime I open the door and give what I think is a sufficient enough shove to keep it open, it always wants to close itself back up, and its usually while my left leg it halfway out of the car. I always have bruises on my leg where the door shuts on it...

I was just wondering if anyone else has this same annoyance with their cars since I've had two Celicas and both of them behaved the same.

Peace.
somebody call the eeeehhxxxoorrcissttt...maybe your cars are posessed >biggrin.gif>

7th gens are the same. just made that way. Sounds like an excuse for power operated doors. >biggrin.gif>
yeah my car does that too, but doesn't bother me any.
haha.

Yeah my poor mom gets clobbered whenever she sits in my car because she'll open the door.. put her foot out.. then reach for her purse.. meanwhile "BAM!"

Stress. But.. what're ya gonna do.. the door seems to be 5 times heavier that on my old AE92 Corolla!

A great alternative would be lamborghini-styled doors. Awesome!

Lol. Not really. What if the gull-wing or swing-up lambo doors had the same problem as our Celicas.. and kept falling down on us! OUCH!

lol
