So everyone on here knows (or now does) that my car has most of the GT4 LOOK. however it seems that 1 out of every 10 people calls me a ricer cuz ive made my car look like a gt4. But when modding my car it was never "oh im going to fool people and let them think i own a gt4" it was more of " everything besides the gt4 kit is so aggressive and not really my style so im going to keep it clean" but its just frustrating to be called a ricer. I hate when people say its badged a gt4 when its just on the spoiler posts and its engraved in and I know doggy made some replicas but i wanted the real ones. So thats the only part that I guess I could have done some work to and shaved it or something..idk.

Its a clean look better than stock. Your not pretending to throw skyline lights on and act like a racer, you went for a clean look thats no different than throwing on rims. You dont go around preaching you own a GT4.

Most ricers think they are fast and act it. Reckless driving, foolish rants, pointless mods lol.

when modding a car there should be one prson satisfied with the results, the owner. to me there is no such thing as ricer.

if a car has been tastefully modded, it's not rice.. @ least that's how i view people who mod their cars

i say no...it makes you some one who appricates a good looking car. No one says that if you modify your exterior with stock parts makes you a ricer. I say ricers are the ppl who put the butt ugly body kits on their cars, big tin can, APC seats, and cheap rims on their car...and its auto. I say your not, your just some one who wants to achive some thing you arent able to get in full. Its like some one taking an integra and puttin a jdm front clip on it. They arent ricers because its not a real ITR, they just want a different look. If you had a stock integra that was like..done stock and you slap "Type R" stickers on your car and say its an ITR, then your a ricer.

I agree with John in saying the GT-Four on the blocks is the only thing semi-rice... and maybe the wheels.

other than that Celicas come from the factory looking like that... just not in the US, but some people don't know that so they call you a ricer. factory is not rice IMO.

lol i think its funny with my wheels - cuz it seems (over here in my area) the longer youve been in the car show/scene then the more you like my wheels and the newer to teh game then the less you like my wheels. thats what ive noticed here atleast. I love them...theyre not something you see on a japanese import and its got the multiple piece look thats so hot :-) and deep dish..mmmm....sexy

that makes sense. I'm not in the car show scene at all, I'm just a spectator once in a while.

your wheels look good on your car, they fit with it being in the show car scene and everything. I like simplicity to an extreme, my car wouldn't make it as a show car.

These quotes sum up the way I feel about the whole thing. As far as I am concerned you have constructed a replica GT4, and there is nothing wrong with that.

i think anyone who tries to make their import look like something it isnt = rice.

to me, if people spend thousands of dollars making a slow car look fast, they're wasting their money.

if you own a car that hasn't ever seen a track, the following makes your car look riced out :

white vinyl "sponsor" decals
racing seats
giant wings
gauges with no boost
extremely low suspension

if you're buying JDM parts and putting them on your car, more power to you. people who purchase OEM parts that are different than USDM just want 'the real deal' that they get over in japan.

the US market really rapes cars before they release them to the general public, i still have no idea why.

a gt-four conversion is fine, that's how the car was originally intended to be.

this is a celica forum, what do you expect people will say? although some are already telling the truth, like that guy that said the 6g celica is already rice from the factory (USA spec). Ofcourse we dont get the fancy 3sge/3sgte like the rest of the world does.

Rice varies from community to community, person to person, depending on who you talk to and what you talk about. To me, doing and over-doing silly things on your car is rice. When all that money going into aesthetic/cosmetic could've gone into the engine.

I've been around here for a while, and im telling this from a non-celica owner that most of the people on here are rice. Body kits, expensive heavy rims, expensive paint jobs, jdm parts, god knows the list can go on and on, and i've been around here long enough that after-market parts for the 6gc is not cheap.

Personally, if i'm not a full time college student, if i have a stable job, financially fit, and have saved up enough money for my first major mod, I would've swapped in the top-end monster 3sgte in a GT or a 4age and turbo that s.o.b in an ST. Don't assume that i hate body kits, decals, big wings, etc, i love them! but without the "go" with the "show" it's pretty much rice to me.

Rice is also how you act, but that can be discuss in another lifetime.....

i don't think there's actually been a hyundai that is a really a 'performance' car. that's my point - why bother to add that stuff if people know it's slow as dirt? it's a lie with 4 wheels, basically.

as a car enthusiast, you have to have an open mind. ANY car can be made fast if you have deep pockets$$$. There's a twin turbo tibby around where i live, im sure its in the 12s or 13s by now.

the style may be rice, and maybe the owner likes it, i sure dont, but if its fast, i give it respect. You see, there is a difference between giving it respect and liking it.

and this brings me to my next point. The car may be rice, but if the owner is cool as heck and knows it's rice, i wouldn't care what else happens to it, i give the owner respect. If you have a slow car and you think its the sh^t! and think you're all hardcore balla and sh^t and drive around like 4 fast 4 furious, then its just completely rice and you're a ricer.

opinions are very different. everyone qualifies as a ricer somehow to someone. but as long as you don't think your car is ricey, don't even worry about it
