Spark plug - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #42669 22 posts Started by bcelica555
I have a 1994 toyota celi GT and I'm not sure what plugs to get for it. I was wondering if i could get any suggestions on which ones to get??
toyota spark plugs from the dealer oem like LewFX said I have had lots of customer come back with celica and camry becuase of some aftermarket spark plugs gave them trouble
so oem are better than ngk iridium spark plugs? What about the spark plug cables?
aren't oem for the 7afe and 5sfe ngk? i know for sure oem for the 7afe is ngk
hi
not sure if ngk make toyota there spark plugs or not can find out tomorrow though. I would buy toyota cables also because toyota make all there prouducts just for toyota. unless your race your celica go with the more expence stuff. Just drive for fun and to work stick with Toyota plugs and wires.

answer pure dx I can look it up tomorrow but Ngk is a lot more then toyota spark plugs. If they are then why not buy toyota spark plugs if Ngk make them for toyota

you dont need irridiums, platinum work just as good
I'd prefer denso iridium/platinum plugs,or even ngk. Don't use domestic plugs like bosch, autolite, etc.
Yeah, Platinums last longer. I have Bosch +4 Spark Plugs. They work great with aftermarket spark plug wires. Noticable.
toyota recommends denso or NGK plugs.
oem wires, cap, and rotor will be the best solution, and longest lasting.

how long have you been running those plugs without misfire?

yeah i have the platinum +4 and actually i noticed a little bit plus i have the nology wires too but for the money its not worth it, and ive been having mis firing and im taking those out either tonight or tomorrow.
Denso is the way to go, came on the car and recommend it stays on the car.
i have the bosch +4 and not too happy with them thus far... i'll be getting some NGK's tomorrow

it says on the car that they are to be replaced with ngk plugs... so i shall listen to toyota smile.gif

THE STUFFS FOR SALE!
good idea, stick with japanese plugs not us..if you get ngk plugs, get ngk wires...everything is cheaper on ebay btw
since i have nology wires should i get nology plugs as well?
yea I would get toyota plugs and wires, any other plugs or wire not going to give your more horse power. I would be toyota plugs they will last a long time.
Here's a spark plug question:
The 1999 Toyota Repair Manual says to replace with either
DENSO made PK20TR11 or NGK made BKR6EKPB11 - both platinum multi-ground
Haynes and sparkplugs.com say
NGK BKR6EP11 - a double platinum
Obviously I'm inclined to go with the Toyota Repair Manuals recommendation but was wondering which should be used and what kind of a difference it would really make.
P.S.: I've also heard of some people using plugs one heat range colder in California because the gas is "crappy and oxygenated". Any thoughts on this?

Denso is OEM.
get some hks plugs !! their nice

IT DON'T PLAY!
I put some NGK iridium IX's in my car a couple months ago along with NGK wires (the 5mm ones) and an OEM dist cap and rotor. no problems so far. however, now that 99GTauto mentions it, I'm curious about that one-step-colder-for-california thing.
