Cat-back exhaust - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #42115 12 posts Started by 94st_santos
I finally ordered and got my magnaflow muffler now I plan on getting a cat-back at a local muffler shop. I have 1.8 7afe a header. Just wanted some recommendations on size and how to run it, I've heard of people running it between the axle instead of above it???

Just stick with the way the factory exhaust piping is configured(over the axle) as long as the muffler shop can make mandrel bends in the custom piping. Go with a 2 1/4 in. pipe size from the cat back, and i'm sure you'll like the way the new exhaust will turn out . smile.gif

booo...go under your axel..its a short distance and less bending = better flow and its easier to mount and make..go with 2" or 2.25"
most shops offer compression bends but that really isn't going to matter with your car over mandrel bends because well its a celica thats not boosted..just don't get crushed bend piping

would anybody happen to have any close up pix of the exhaust going between. Ive seen, I think defs in the other thread but that exhaust goes completely under the axle and that is way to low for me..
are you gonna get a high flow cat as well? or just remove it all together?

2.25 is a good size smile.gif

THE STUFFS FOR SALE!
I gutted my cat but someone said it messes with the flow of the exhaust. So if the shop can do it I want to put a piece of pipe inside the cat for better flow, so it doesn't seem to be illegal compared to just deleting it. If not I'll just leave it or get a high flow later.

6gcSTVT you wouldn't happen to have a pic from the back corner of the car.

Thanks

Here man, I managed to get a few pics and even a vid clip of my exhaust to show you what I did. I hope it helps; and don't mind the undercarriage, it looks like rust under the car but it's really not. It's that unavoidable red dirt we got on our roads that made it look that way mad.gif . IPB Image

that's awesome netrata, how much did it cost you toset that up? and the muffler alone? cause i already hav done a 2.25" exhaust but my muffler is a bit tacky, i might wanna get it changed later one
I spent about $75 to do the exhaust piping. About $70 for the cat. converter, $60 for the resonator, and $65 for the megan racing muffler. So all together it came up to about $270. Seems like a good investment over the aftermarket greddy sp2 and other brands since most of them cost over $300+. smile.gif
cool thanks mate thumbsup.gif , it's an awesome setup, cause i just got mine done but not as good as urs, lol cause i'm cheap, being a uni student lol anywayz i really like it

Wouldn't your lower frame in the back hit against your piping all the time with this setup??
