Another new toy... - 6G Celicas Forums

Well, as some of you know, or remember, I recently purchased a Springfield Armory XD-9 Service model handgun:

9mm. Full grip. 4" barrel. 16rd clip. Auto-loading semi-automatic. Only addition so far is the Hogue grip in the 2nd picture. The laser is no longer there.

Well, it was good, but a deal came along that I could not pass up. So, I recently aquired a new XD. A Springfield Armory XD-40 Sub-Compact:
IPB Image
.40cal. 2-finger grip. 3" barrel. 1 normal clip(pictured). 2 high capacity magazines(which give a full grip). Night sights. I've also already ordered a Pearce Grip Extension for the standard clip.

It is approximately a 650+ dollar handgun. Also with it, I got 50 hollow-tip/self-defense rounds (31 Sheer, 19 Federal), and approx 150 range rounds. That's at least another 50+ dollar value. All for 400 dollars. Totally worth it.

Here they are together:

Awwww.

Anyway, I'm stoked. Hopefully I'll have my carry license sometime soon, seeing as how that was the main reason for this purchase. To carry it. Hopefully someone will give me the money for the course for my birthday or christmas.

So. Any update on anyone else's arsenal? smile.gif.

very nice firearms. I can post up some pics of my HK here in a sec. Just this past weekend went out shooting high powereds with some friends. Fired two different compact M16 AR's. Very, very nice shooting those. Way different from the old Marlin 30-30 that im used to. I love living in the country.

john, you're as bad as I am. I'll try and get pics up soon. smile.gif

I just finished getting parts ordered for my mak90. I'll have it set up with a 3-12 scope and a dragunov composit stock set up.

Will look something like this
IPB Image

only with the barrel a bit shorter and a different front hand guard.

I am currently debating on what will be my next project... I am either going to get a mosin nagant(russian ww2) to set up with scope or a 8mm mauser (german ww2) with the same basic set up.

I hear the mauser is regarded as -the- bolt action rifle of the last century, but I dunno.

i was lookin at a walther p22 before this deal came along. i was looking at this one:
IPB Image

along with the laser, i was going to get the 5" long target barrel. 22s are great for just playin around. they have no recoil. they are fun to shoot. and they are super cheap to shoot. it's like a glorified bb gun.

but yeah, the silencers for those things are bigger than the actual gun almost. i don't know just how "007" stealthy that would be. tongue.gif.

yes, i have a desert eagle (.50 cal model) and a walther p22. The 22 is fun as hell 2 shoot, u shoot all day for only like $10 worth of ammo, the DE will put a nice hole in your pocket at almost $2.50 a round! So 1 clip = 7 bullets, 7x2.50= $17.50 a clip.

hehe... my walther is just like the second p22 pic john posted wink.gif minus the supressor frown.gif - i'll have to get some pics up of it shortly smile.gif ... and i'll b ordering my laser as seen in john's p22 pic1 very shortly as well biggrin.gif
mmmmmm. pearce grip extension.

IPB Image

this is the same magazine that is shown in the first post, but with a different end cap. with this grip extension i can get all 3 fingers on the grip. and w/ a 40cal sub-compact, it makes a big difference.

I've got a smith&wesson m&p. I shot the XD 40, but dind't like the wasy it came back to level after a shot. From what I hear, though, it's a good gun...just really came down to personal preference for me.

shouldn't the gun level out after a shot? but yeah, personal preference is the important thing. when i first started looking, i started with Glock in mind. just bc that's such a well-known company. then i went from there. i found out about the XD, and my dad has one. So, i went to a range, rented a glock 17 (glock's full sized 4" barrel 9mm). and then i shot the XD. it was no contest. even with the extra grip safety, it was just much more comfortable and what not. i also shot much much better with the XD, versus the glock. and thta's also what's important. smile.gif.

Sorry, I meant that it didn't come back to level how I liked it...the M&P felt like it came back on target quicker between shots, whereas the XD felt a little heavy in the barrel, made it move around a little more.

Again, I think this is just a preference, because the two guns have about the same features and shoot similarly...the m&p just had a little less felt recoil and was a bit more comfy in my hand.
