RIP Steve Irwin, your passion and love of all wildlife has affected alot of people.

Thoughts go to Terri and the kids.
I only liked one piece of work he did. Didnt care much for all his croc antics.

That one sportscenter commercial where he tackles and wrastles the florida gators mascot.

Man that was good television.
Sadd to hear..i couldnt stand his show but im sad to hear the news

KawiLove
OMg man are you serious? How did you find that out? YOu know to me its one of those ironic things... like a guy that goes through a tour in a war never gets touched or hurt ...comes home and gets in a car accident and dies you know ....its just crazy

I'am Reinventing the SLow Lane.....
it was on the news...they were talking about his death, and they were saying how "fluckey/rare" it is.

KawiLove
Yeah no kidding

I'am Reinventing the SLow Lane.....
"Humans are usually stung in the foot; it is also possible, although less likely, to be stung by brushing against the stinger. Contact with the stinger causes local trauma (from the cut itself), pain and swelling from the venom, and possible infection from parts of the stinger left in the wound. Injuries to humans include, but are not limited to: poisoning, punctures, severed arteries and possible death. Fatal stings, such as that which killed Australian naturalist and television personality Steve Irwin in 2006,[2] are extremely rare (as of 1996, worldwide known deaths from stingray barb injuries numbered 17),[3] but can occur if a stinger punctures the heart or chest, causing complications due to both the sting's location and the poison in the barbs. As of 2001 there has been only one person documented to have survived a stingray injury to the heart."

Its rare because people dont get stabbed in the chest by the barbs, usually its in the feet or legs, because someone stepped on them and they defended themselves.
Basically if you are in stingray populated waters, walk in it if its shallow, if its deep swim. Or you might end up #19 on the death by stingray barb list.
I nearly cried when I heard the news, I grew up with this guy, and he has such a beautiful wife and three kids...and he was the director of the Australian Zoo...he did so much, it just seemed such a stupid way for him to go...

RIP, Steve Irwin, and many many regrets...prayers to your family.

"I bet you drive a standard." "You could make some money off that bet." :D
when my friend told me he died, I pictured the crocodile dundee guy for some reason (use to do subaru commercials too) so when I realized who really died it really shocked me. So sad frown.gif

(mzztoyota you meant to say many regards & not regrets, right?)
This is a very rare case. Since 1890 there has only been 17 deaths attributed to sting rays.

Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it...
okay, I officially apologize for all my typos above (2 kids, not 3, etc.) I was rushed and I'm gonna say that I was so utterly distressed about the news that I wasn't typing correctly...

still sad, though...frown.gif
