Topic #40788 65 posts Started by MaskedMan
Ok i have a dilema, i have not been able to sell my Alltrac, the best, and pretty much only offer i got was from this guy wanting to trade me his 92 miata for it. My Alltrac doesn't run and all, but do you think it would be a even or if anything a good idea to trade?

depends on the condition of the Miata... IMO Miatas are beyond fun, i've tinkered with the idea of owning one for years, but the winters here would be brutal in that car, and im 6'1, so it's not exactly roomy...

Car #3: 98 Accord LX- purchased 5/06, totaled 8/06Car #2: 95 Celica GT- purchased 8/03, current daily driverCar #1: 01 Focus ZX3- purchased 5/01, sold 8/03
seems like a downgrade to me. but then again, your alltrac ain't getting you anywhere... literally. i say keep trying to figure out what's wrong with it and try to get it to work. take it to a toyota dealer or what-not.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.
I would not do it. thumbsdown.gif

Past: V6 Swapped 6G Celica, E46 BMW M3, Jeep Wrangler TJCurrent: 850rwhp C6 Corvette Grandsport, Gen1 6.2L Ford Raptor
they're fun but a running alltrac > miata, any day of the week.

doesn't seem like a legit trade, you could probably score a miata for cheap if you saved up your pennies, even a used one wouldn't cost you that much. they've still been making miatas, the same can't be said about the alltrac.

then again, it's your choice. i know what it's like to have a car that isn't running and requires a lot of work - it's easier to get rid of it then to fix it up.
The miata also has low milage for a 92. it has 77k miles on it. I would love to get my Alltrac running and would take an alltrac anyday, but at the same time i dont even want to put any more money into it cuase i need money to pay for insurance and what not on the the BMW. If only i KNEW what was wrong with it, and knew how much money it would take it fix it... kindasad.gif . I most likely wouldn't get the Miata to drive, but i would just get the Miata to sell it, becuase i figured a running car would be easier to sell. The Alltrac is near impossible to sell in this condition, or maybe im just asking too much cuz im so attached to it frown.gif .
Did you seek help on here as to why the ****er aint runnin? Im sure we could help you determine the problem, man.
Well it's just hard to exactly describe the problem online. I say we call a 6gc "fix my Alltrac" meet haha.
is alltrac.net still up? you could try over there, or search for some kind of GT-4 forum to ask questions...

not to disrespect, but this is the wrong forum to ask extremely technical questions about turbo'd AWD cars, most of us are used to our little econobox FWD usdm celica's.

edit: http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/

check that out and ask around on there, those guys would know more about your car & it's quriks.

You have another daily driver? Then keep the alltrac. It is going to be a collector car soon! - especially if its a 93. My prediction is that the value on a good condition 93 will exceed 30k in about 10 years.

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
my Alltrac is a 91, sorry if i posted anywhere that it was a 93. 93's are very rare, weren't there under 100 93 models sold? I have an account on Alltrac.net (same name-MaskedMan), and im actually trying to sell it there and it's where i got the offer for the miata. I think im going to pull it off the for sale list, and just try to fix it again. kindasad.gif

that is a better idea imo

you might be able to get more out of it then a miata..

or be able to fix it easily, keep it, and have fun with awd once again smile.gif

THE STUFFS FOR SALE!
ok haha this puts me back to square one haha. It's just a pain in the butt cuase even if i do a JDM engine swap to it, it prolly still will have problems cuase i know my engine itself is good. haha ugh i have no idea what look at next. Maybe i'll tow it to school and have my teacher take a look at it. poop.
My friend has the same car. IM me on AIM and I'll see if you can get some help. smile.gif
Someone is willing to trade you a low-mileage Miata for something that doesn't run.

You're crazy if you don't take the offer.

bull sh*t. dont do the trade. get the AWD TURBOCHARGED car running as opposed to taking the easy way out and buying some ugly piece of scrap metal that is doing nothing but decreasing in value every year, as opposed to the all trac which, as is gets older and rare, will appreaciate in value. Also, the all trac is just as fun. Its light and nimble and its AWD to boot. +1 for the all trac!

thanks for the input everyone biggrin.gif, I will just have to find some other way to pay for stuff. Atleast im not in debt..yet. =X. haha. Well i have been trying to get help from Alltrac.net but like it's just hard to get help from people that aren't here in person. The people there are great knowledgable people, but i have no idea who can help me, becuase most of if not all the people i knew with Alltracs have sold them and moved on frown.gif.

electrical problems.

i'll take a blown motor over electrical problems any day.

as for the trade, i honestly we go into the garage and test every single wire on the car before i give up. after that, swap out the ecu and injectors

Don't ever ask a question on 6GC that involves "Celica or XXX Vehicle." Go to a neutral site lol. Or decide for yourself. Drive the Miata...they're fun. Awesome for autocross too. I don't think Alltracs are anything great to be honest. Everyone sackrides them here. And to tell you the truth, it won't appreciate in value like whoever said here. If it isn't running trade it, get a FlyinMiata kit, and I bet you have a lot of fun.

/\ yeah, cause i'd buy it.

whats wrong with the car?

Well let's see...

Car smokes a lot from exhuast, smells like fuel. Oil smells like fuel and i just changed the oil.

Car will start up fine but will not idle unless you give it throttle. New plugs, and i have an MSD high vibration coil installed. I know the car is getting spark, originally i thought it was a coil or igniter problem cuase i wasn't getting spark, but then found out it was just a grounding issue. I still think i have a grounding issue becuase for some reason when i have the distributor turned all the way advance and then i try to start the car, the thin ground that connects to the alternator will heat up and smoke. I am suspecting the ground behind the intake manifold to be the culprit but havent been able to check it out since its in such a tight space. With all the white smoke out of the exhuast i thought that it could have been burning coolant, so i suspected headgasket/low compression. But then i checked compression and it is 150psi on all 4 cylinders. This isn't PERFECT, but the car should still run fine. Sooo i pretty much narrowed it down to a fuel problem. It's just pouring it in there like there's no tomorrow. I could check for leaky injectors, and i have a whole nother set that i could try, but it's going to be some work to switch them since it's like way down there. And i dont think they are leaking, but something is activating them due to a short or something. There is a broken wire that looks like it connects to some sort of sensor, but i have posted pictures on Alltrac.net and i had a mechanic look at my car and no one was able to help me out on that or tell me what the sensor was or what it did. There is also another broken wire but it is a different color that the wire leading to that sensor so i do not believe they go together. I am getting check engine code #21 i believe, the one that says there's something about my AFM.
hrrrmmm... well how much where you asking for your at?

i was asking 4k. i think i have it set at $4400 on Alltrac.net but wouldve went down alot lower had someone actually even given me an offer for it. I prolly wouldve sold it for 3k =X with a spare 3sgte parts engine, cuase i was that desperate for the money. But i don't think im selling it anymores. =/.

gl with getting that thing running MaskedMan

THE STUFFS FOR SALE!
thanks guys for the input and advice, i just had second thoughts when i had people telling me my car is pretty much worthless, when i get no offers for it but a miata (not to say miatas are bad cars), and then having a guy with a stock ae86 tell me that my car isn't as good as his. Im just like wth... frown.gif I mean, i like ae86's but in my opinion the price of them has skyrocketed to an unreasonable price now, and some of their owners are becomming full of themselves. No offense to anyone owning one, cuase there are a lot of 86 owners that are really nice people, about 5 of my friends have them. but ugh some can be quite mean kindasad.gif , but i guess you'll get that with any car. Anyways im getting off topic. Thanks for all the support guys, and hopefully i can get this Alltrac running biggrin.gif
laugh.gif 30k dollars for a 93 all-trac! laugh.gif

AIM==Mynzeyes
im currently 5 points behind a miata in ES for the season... damn miatas...

alltracs arent as "light and nimble" as you may think. i smoke my buddy in his street alltrac at the autocrosses (was ~250WHP), he also is a rally driver in another alltrac, so its not like he doesnt know how to handle the car.
