Ok this has been happening for awhile. When I get on the highway once I hit 80mph my steering wheel starts to shake, it cant be stopped by holding it tightly either. Thats the only problem though, just the shake. I can let go of the wheel and the car goes straight...it just shakes a lot. Problem?

I would get the wheel alignment checked first, then maybe suspension bushes?
>>Yeah its just all about the balance, my steering wheel shakes at 70 just barely and after 70 its smooth at silk. biggrin.gif

Yep, you just need to balance your wheels. Mine does the same.

YoungSurvival.Org-Celica traded for.. 350z.. traded for Mazda5.. soccer mom!
probably wheels out of balance, however that can also be caused by bad shocks.
You may need hubcentric rings for your aftermarket rims.

Shouldnt be the shocks, they arent even a month old. I'll go get my wheels balanced, thats probably it since I never did it after getting new wheels
^ sounds like thats deff the issue then, new wheels dont always come balanced. and hudcenteric rings is a good idea too
i had this same problem it could be a number of things
1.needs to be balanced
2.needs an alignment
3.warped roter
4.bad tire tred

i got my wheel shake solved by getting my wheels balanced aligned and new tired
hubcentric rings are a must if you have vibration thats seems unstopable

this happened when i first got the car. it was just a matter of putting some air in the tires, then it was perfectly fine. i doubt thats your problem but you might as well check anyway before you pay money for anything else

but yeah if you have aftermarket wheels and/or lowered suspension and never got them balanced or had an alighnment then thats definitely the problem. although when places put new tires on they balance them at the same time, its usually just a given.

If its not the wheel alignment, order some poly engine mount fillers. STs like to shake when you go fast wink.gif
ya that happend to me in my GMC suburban and whenever i would break it would shake even at 10mph (no joke) It would shake like i was going over a very bumpy dirt road. in my case it was just hte alignment like everyones been saying

I don't think the wheels need to be balanced, im pretty sure that got done when I got them. Mos likely I need to get it aligned again and if that doesnt fix the problem i'll try the other things.

how long ago was that cause if its been awhile you have them balanced again. i spent alot of time balancing mine so it would'nt do that about a year ago and now it shakes a little at 70 mhp. the balance of the tires will change as they wear. if your steering wheel shakes when you brake your front rotors are warped if it shakes at high speed its more than likley tire balance.
