i just got an idea...

celica club cyprus (at least some of us) travelling to europe.

this is about for next summer just writting this about what other european celica owners think.

can a pan-european meeting be possible?

i was thinking about rome but nothing is for sure now

what u guys think?

EDIT:

meeting will take place in imola track, san marino on 25 of august 2007, saturday.

its the place in so from egland, sweden need 2 days drive and from cyprus 3:P from other places in europe its just 1 day:)

if u see the ideas and the "fighting" below i still beleive we need to do a celica meeting. we are all proud celica owners, and i think we all have the write to be on this meeting. i think u all like our meetings in cyprus, 100-130 celicas going somewhere all together and having fun. this was the first idea. a first to last generation celica meeting.

2500km from stockholm

AS I already wrote in another thread in Meeting section,

Northern Italy would be quite central for an European meet...

The next 28/29 October the Celica T20 Italy club is going to make its autumnal meeting in Parma, only 130 km west from Imola.

So the new distances would be:

600 from Prague ( via Innsbruck )
1830 from Lithuania
2630 from Moscow
1320 from London
2430 from Stockholm
2170 from Lisbon

and 3130 from Cyprus ... but you from Cyprus are going to make many kms on the boat....

ships from cyprus to greece or italy are pain i a$$. we will drive trhu turkey then to greece and then by boat to bari/italy:P its still a lot of driving

the cost from cyprus is the highest i beleive from whole europe but personally i really want to be there:)

You have even to count the fuel you'll have to buy if you make all the Turkey and Greece, and the boat from Cyprus to Turkey !

And to arrive in Italy, should be better a boat to Ancona...

i just found out about ancona..

shipping usually is not on a ferryboat, ferry could be once a month mailny for trucks. usually shipping of cars is with commercial ships and costs more than 500E (one way) and takes 4-5 days + customs + clearing and u can not travel with the boat so u need also a plane ticket.

even if it costs less than than the fuel (and 2 oil changes, one on the going and one on the coming back) i prefer the driving

there is nothing like crousing with a celica at 80-100 kph in roads u never been before. i am not planning to race to come to italy. it going to be a vacation never to be forgotten.

You're talking about the boat from Cyprus to Greece, aren't you ?

The one from Greece to Ancona is a ferryboat so you travel with your car.

We have a Greek member ( female ) in our club, she lives in Milan, but she is from Salonicco...
she'll go back in Greece tomorrow for vacation, and she will take the boat in Ancona...

We could ask her about the costs, and even about the roads in Greece, given that Salonicco is quite near Turkey.

yes cyprus to greece... from greece i can take the ferry from patra or igoumenitsa. can u please ask her about the prices from ancona to igoumenitsa (probably she is going to igoumenitsa if she is from sallonica) about celica shipping + 2 people?

Anek company, out and home price:

1 T20 = 116 euros

1 person = 85 euros

So 2 people and the car is 286 euros, out and home.

yey, almost talked my lass into us doing this instead of a summer holiday next year. whooppee.

she said as long as its not germany then shes ok. I think italy would be her desire.

OK how about we determine a list of possible places to visit and would we be looking at just going to 1 place or maybe having a week off and going round a few different countries?

Its bound to be along drive from the uk so I would prefer to have a several day trip rather than a 2 day one.

How about people from different countries, provide a brief paragraph on why the trip should visit them? What landmarks / point of interest are there to see and do?

Maybe this all sounds a bit of overkill but I'm sure I won't be the only person who is going to have to sell the trip to their other half and why they can't have a summer holiday in the sun but can sit in the car for several hundred miles!!

as i am planning i should be in italy 2-3 days before

maybe we can take advandage and with help of italian friends we can see italy:) or some part of it. or even more make a round in monaco... a sight never to be forgotten by rich people there:)

obviously I perfectly imagine that someone that is going to make such a trip, is not going to stay here for the 2 meeting days...

and in Italy there are many things to see...

Parma is:

- 45 minutes from Maranello... Ferrari...












- 1 hour from the Cinque Terre on the Tirrenian sea






- 1 hour from Forte Dei Marmi - Tuscany




- 1.5 hours from Rimini




- 2 hours from Florence






- 2 hours from Venice






.... and Parma itself is a very beautiful city...





So there are many place you could visit the days before or after the meeting...

i think we all agree to say that we are open for ideas:) 1 year looks as a long time but i think is just enough to make a perfect plan all ideas are welcome and plans can be adjusted.

OK sophies sold on the idea! although shes a bit distressed bout not getting a summer holiday but having a quick look at petrol costs of £500 for the san marino trip there and back in my 2.0 GT (I pity those GT4 guys!) then I reckon its gonna end up way more than a summer hoiday!!

I agree with recycle that as some of us are taking a week off work then maybe 1 or 2 of our italian counterparts could do the same and become our tour guides?

I think touring a few places and getting a few beers down our necks will be a good laugh.
