right i have noticed over the last few days of owning the Celica that when i drive along & hold a constant speed in 3rd or 4th (it may in other gears) i get an odd sound almost like a faint screech. if i accelorate it goes so normally around 2k revs it's worst.

any ideas....sorry for the dodgy description

do you have a non-stock intake? is it almost like a cricket or a whine?

It's almost a screech like when u get that lose belt sound but quiter & only when holding a slower speed. I have a HKS air filter on it at present.

Sounds like just the noise your filter makes. If you want to confirm, you can change back to the stock box and see how that goes.

i get a real loud engine humming kind of sound when i get to just over 3400rpm..

i'm now thinking it maybe the gearbox so need to get it looked at as it's bloody annoying now.

i honestly dont understand what noise your trying to describe but if its a real lopud high pitch kinda sounds like metal scrpaing together then you could possibly have a vaccum leak or something loose on your intake manifold like maby not completely bolted down (loose bolts).

i think i have, (had) something similar on my ss-II , but mainly in 5'th gear and when i let go off the gas after accelerating. it sounds kinda like a faint grinding noise, i think it's gone now though

Well now third is crunch when i change gear unless i ease it in

New box i think is on the cards
