Shifter Boot - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #3937 6 posts Started by TRDDawg
Yeah I read some how to articles and I know how to remove the shift knob but I don't know how to remove the boot. I believe that the boot is attached to the center piece and I don't want to damage it. Does anyone know how to remove it?
no, its not attached, at least not on mine. you just have to kind of pop it out and down. try pushing the left side of the boot towards the center and press down a little, it sitting in there on a ledge type thing, then you can pop the other side out and take it off... pretty simple
Attached to bottom or outside square of the shift boot is a rectangular wire frame. This just clips into attachments on the bottom of the center console bit.

Kinda hard to explain but its easy to figure out >smile.gif>
Its just a wire that pops out.

i am awesome
It just some stiff wire thats a bit wider then the plastic. If your gonna take it off and put a new one in I just suggest taking off the whole peice of plastic around it. Start at the bottom right and use a flathead to pry it off. Just be gentle.
Yeah I finally removed the shift boot and installed a new one. The original shift boot was difficult to take out because the shifter was in the way but then I just uncliped the sides and took it out. I am glad that I replaced my old one.
