im not too tuned up with all the forced inductions and all, but i came across a CT27 turbo that had higher rating than the CT20B turbo....i was reading some forums on the CT20B that it is a better turbo to get b/c its used in the WRC(s), correct me if im wrong...but now i heard about this new CT27 Turbo that my friend has on his 3SGTE MR2...what's that, he says it hauls a$$; i would think it does because it's turboed, but the CT27 looks like the CT26 turbo to me...any clearification 6gc fam?

the CT-27 is an upgraded version of the '26, with a larger TO4E 46trim compressor wheel, and a machined out housing for more flow.
its made basicly to be a alternative to the ct-20b, which you can typicly only find used.

i HAVE the ct-27, and my advice would be this.
if you can find a KNOWN ct-20b thats in GREAT condition, for under 500, its worth it, otherwise, its just not worth the chance you take buying a used turbo.
ct-20b's are basicly unrebuildable in the USA cause you cant get the parts for them.

hmmm..which is better for better power and better efficiency for no turbo lag?

yaahh good luck on the ct20b rebuilt kit. As it was never made in any usdm toyota car.

Between the two turbos from looking at dnyos on mr2oc. The ct27 has more potential than the ct20b. Its the same as the ct26 with a different compressor wheel.

I would guess the spool is pretty much the same in both turbos.

I've had the CT20b. It was better then the ct26 - but thats not saying much.

A friend of mine has the ct27 on his MR2, along with an exhaust, intake, and boost controller. The response was better then the 20b, but I still wasn't very impressed. Must need more supporting upgrades to really get the power from it. I'd say the ct27 has more potential though, and better serviceability.
