Im gonna try to put in at ct20b turbo in today and was wondering what kind of oil i should use in my 3sgte. Its got roughly about 73,000 miles on it. I plan on running it on 8psi daily and 13psi racing. Any suggestions? Also, i dont want to run synthetic because of its high mileage. So what brand? weight? and quantity? thanks guys : )
3sgte Oil question (i know its been covered) - 6G Celicas Forums
i just used castrol 10W 40 on mine, but a few other people i know run 10W 30, both are fine. oh and i used like 4 quarts.

First off, 73k miles is *not* high mileage for a Toyota motor. Synthetic should be fine.
What does the turbo have to do with what oil you are running? I'm wondering about the rest of the story here...

2003 Subaru WRX Wagon1989 Camry Alltrac LE 3S-GTE - SV25/ST205 hybrid1988 Camry Alltrac LE - BEAMS swap started
hmm yeah 73k isn't high at all. I got like 98k now and still running strong, and my alltrac has 160k, and well.. it tries.
I use mobile 1 full synthetic and mobile one filters.
Synthetic ftw!......I change my oil so much it seems like... Damn turbo cars always using so much oil.
BANNED!

Not sure if it did or didnt, thats why i was throwing it out there. I will be running higher boost than stock so i dont want an oil that wont keep the shaft lubed. thats why i wanted a thicker oil as opposed to synthetic.

I have a turboxs dual stage boost controller, 13 psi is just a flick of the switch away
with gas prices the way they are, for a to b drives 8psi should be enough. Unless its late at night and freeways clear than thats a different story.
Edit:13psi not 14 (just yet)

BTW, I switched to synthetic last night. Although the weight of authority suggests that the cleaning agents in synthetic oil can break down sludge build-up that may be preventing a leak, I have read a number of posts from people with over 100k on their engines who have had no problems switching. I was paranoid about it but made the switch anyway. There is no doubt that a good synthetic oil is MUCH better for your engine longevity.

Running 0w30 Castrol Full Synth. No Oil Consumption till this day (2000 miles) so I think everything is okay.
JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
