3sgte power - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #38998 20 posts Started by nik
ok i know i few of you are running 3sgte but most arent over 250 whp execpt 2 or so

bottom line i just wanna know how much money you put into your swaped car just for the swap all the extra parts extra etc and what kinda power your putting down

so can you list it out

example

2nd gen 3sgte

turbo stock ct-26
fuel management stock
3" down pipe

etc

and also a dyno chart if you have one i dont like guessing but you can if you must

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte
its kind of a general question, since most of us have the same setup.

your looking at around 3-5k for a swap and anywhere from 200-240ish at the wheels depending on exhasut, intercooler, dyno type and boost level. from there the sky is the limit and pretty much just a turbo upgrade away.

15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
3rd Gen JDM 3S-GTE
Stock Engine
Putting out about 220 WHP

Coming:
Aussie 3" DP + 3" Custom exhaust.
HKS/Blitz Boostcontroller (going from 12 PSI to 17-18 PSI)
Apexi Intake + Custom piping

Hoping to reach 250+ WHP with it.

Swap cost: 4k Including install, GT4 front end parts and GT4 brakes.
Coming Mods cost: about 1k (only engine mods)

JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
I have about $7000 in performance parts in my swap - not including labor. I estimate my power at 260whp at 16psi.

'95 SW20 Gen3 half-cut ~$3500 sold some parts ~$3000
99' Solara Tranny $450
fmic+piping+bov $450
greddy sp2 - $350
custom axles parts&labor $200
swap labor - $0 biggrin.gif
On their way:
3" DP - $130
EBC - $250

just under $5000 and estimated 245-255 whp @ 17-18psi on ct20b

I'll put it to ya like this: I have given Dr. Tweak $7000 for our swap. That included the JDM Gen II and ECU, downpipe, custom exhaust, electronic boost controller, FMIC and custom piping, Perfect Power SMT-6 and tuning (dyno time is costing extra though), installation of pre-purchased Autometer Nexus gauges and pod, and complete motor swap. I know I'm forgetting a couple of things.

Maybe to get rid of the AFM, de-tune the overly rich condition, pick-up another 20-30whp or so, and to be set-up for a bigger turbo someday? Just a thought...

FWIW, after much reading over the last 30 months, I am of the opinion that going to a full EMS would be a great first mod for anyone with a 3sgte (assuming they have the budget).

agreed.
not many people have the 2k+ budget to do it right, tho.
the SMT is just a glorified piggyback, not standalone.

x3

especially when if you got a gen3 and PFC is $760 away

Would not gain much of a PFC with everything stock. But its nice that for the ST205 there is a standalone with predefined maps in it.

You cant expect much gain from tuning any car with everything stock. But definate requirement to break 300bhp on gen3 w/ stock turbo, and doing so with reliability. I wonder how much more power could be extracted from Jay's whip by tuning.

Only can be done if you ad the Apexi boost controller along side it. Something that I think every does who gets a PFC. So your quote of 760 USD is a bit wrong. Should be 1000 USD. But thats still a nice price for some good engineering.

Hey why not smile.gif

BANNED!
Doc and I talked pretty extensively about the use of a piggyback vs. a standalone vs. nothing, and it was decided that the SMT6 would do everything we want in a way of tuning as well as giving us the ability to tune for what we're doing now, and for future plans. wink.gif It's more than adequate for what we're doing with the car.
long term for me is either an ATS rom tune or the apexi power fc

although megasquirt isnt a bad choice either, its pretty damn cheap and my friend just megasquirted his volvo 242 so im learning diff things about tuning on that
What was mina_xxx running i know he put alot of money into his 3sgte

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

299whp on a ct20b at about 18psi and full EMS. He busted a ringland within a year.
