Bad Rim Damage - 6G Celicas Forums

anyone think of a way to fix this? like bend the lip back into shape?

do u think runing on a tire with that kinda...tear/cut in it is HIGHLY unsafe or just fine?

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh omg what happend..im not so sure thats ok to ride ...maby soften up that sharp point a bit

i hit a softball size rock that was on a narrow wet road way doing about 45mph......i knew i hit it hard, so i stopped and pulled over to look at it...and found whats in the pictures

the rim its self...should be fine and safe to ride on(though it might vibrate a little due to warpage, if it does i reccommend putting it on the rear, it will get the shake out of your steering wheel) , the tire, i couldent quite make out if it was really serious or not.
im not sure how to fix the rim.

no vibrations while driving...from 0mph all the way up to 90mph (im stupid and tested it on the highway, and took it up to 90mph)

good then, that means its not that badly warped.
i dunno, maybe try to file the crappy look off...make sure no real sharp edges...it should be fine, the tire, if not to deep of a gash should be ok, if it gets a blister, thats when a lot of people start worrying, i know when i busted up my old set, a chunk of tire went with it, and they havent let up, and i have re mounted them on my new rims. so unless real deep, i believe u ok.
then use your creative side to get that rim lookin good again.

ok...so tire is fine...any suggestions on how to fix/make the rim more presentable??? (im way not creative)

you cant really tell from the pics but its just the lip thats damaged. the actual place where the tire is held onto the rim is fine. its pretty much cosmetic.

the tire gash is kind of deep but ive had compareable gashes on my falkens and theyre still good.

my suggestions:
try not to beat on that side too much...be overly cautious on that side
fix the rim up... bend it back, sand down the sharp edges, put a little filler and touch up paint on it
then take it somewhere and ask about the tire...can they patch it a little, is it even necessary

bend it back as close as possible (heat might help with this) file the sharp parts.. and sand it

Also put it in the back.. just for safety

fill the crack with some JB weld, if the rim is not bend I don't see why it would be dangerous.

Perhaps you can get the rim refurbished by a pro? You got some high end rims there, and you should get that rim looking like new again. I've had Mille Miglias for six years now, and they still look like new!

That tire might not last... dont take the risk. It's cheaper to replace a tire than to replace something from an accident.

One of their shops is 15 minutes from my place, I know at least 10 people that have had great experiences there. 1 of the 10 is my pops! Call them up and you'll have your rim restored to like new condition!

i checked out the site, theres on in ny...looks like its around brooklyn if im not mistaken (probally am) im gonna try to send them a picture of the rim, and get a price quote.

It says on their website its a flat rate 129.99 to fix damaged rims.
