Yes, I'm still here... - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #37997 36 posts Started by Mynzeyes
Well. Still here. I joined in 02, as the 7th member. I had my celica for a few years before that, and I still have it. It's gone through more stages than you could possibly imagine. The last that most everyone here knew about, was when the car had Ground Control coilovers, 7th gen GTS powder-coated black wheels, JDM head and tails, etc. Well, I hit a tight spot with money, and the car was put back to completely stock exterior, other than the fender side markers. Well, I hated that.

I went totally ghetto, and cut the stock springs, just to lower the car a little bit, because I couldn't stand sitting up in the air so high. so here that was:

Again, this wasn't good enough. I hadn't planned on spending anymore money on the car, as I'm paying off credit cards, and trying to save up for a new place, and a new car. Well, I got sick of riding on cut springs, and 150k mile old shocks. I came across a deal I couldn't resist, so I invested in some new GR2 shocks, and another set of Ground Control coilovers (thanks eggman). Also, I ran into a friend, totally unexpectedly, and he offered me some wheels. 18" Team Loco wheels, black again, with a few thousand miles of rubber, for 200 dollars. I didn't plan on any wheels, but I couldn't resist.

So here's how the Celica is now:

Anyway, so there's my car as it is now. I still have the 7th gen seats, flip-out screen, changer, system, Grant steering wheel, TRD shifter, intake, exhaust, etc etc etc. But the major change was the outside. Lemme know what you think. In the plans is a stock spoiler, and eventually I will get rid of all the dings and repaint. I'm honestly very tired of owning a Celica, as I've had it for 9 years or so, but I'm not gonna drive it around stock until I get a new car. I tried it. That's not how I roll. Plus, I'll probably end up keeping it after I get the new car, since it's paid for, and it's really not worth anything, as far as trade in goes.

Yeah, leave comments, or don't. I'm just posting to say I'm still here, and I guess I'm still modding here and there. If the price is right.

Well, I was one of the first to have them on this site, so it's all good. I had them for a long time, so I don't really miss them. Since then, they have gotten so commonplace, they really aren't that special anymore anyways. I also got the tails for a nuts price, so I ended up making some money on those, so it was worth it. But, maybe one day I'll get some more, but needing money really does some crazy stuff to you. Like makes you realize, it's just a car, I need money for things I actually need. tongue.gif.

You, silly.

So yeah, I may attempt some bondo work this weekend, or in the next couple of weeks. take out a few dents and what not. The only problem with that, is getting the stuff repainted. frown.gif.

john i must say i really like your car, right now i have a swap and im in debt and my car is no where near being done but i really admire your car and it pushes me further to finish mine, especially since mine is red too.. i really like black rims on a red car

i also like the jdm sidemarkers, i was thinking about shaving my stock side markers and wiring up the jdm ones, but that will have to wait since i am broke atm

I always love the look for a wingless 6gc.. Great job the car looks great!

BTW: Do any aerodynamic factor change with the removal of the wing?
Nice to see an old timer like myself still sticking around. I've been a 6GC owner for 7 years and still happy...the car is timeless and "solid as a rock", and having no car payment is sweet!!

Thanks for the kind words, Brian. I'm also in debt, and that's why I was going to be done modding my car. I just came across some good deals, and I had some somewhat disposible money lying around. And yes, black rims are gorgeous on red cars. Woot. And yeah, the stock side markers will be gone, it's just a matter of time. Those side markers are just some 15 dollar APC markers. I have no shame. APC used to make good stuff. smile.gif.

Thanks, bro. Honestly, all I know is that they are Team Locos. I know the 7-spoke model is the "142". I have no idea what model they are. I also just know that Team Loco, as far as I know, is no longer in business.

Yes, but on a street car that rarely goes over 70 or 80mph, it is very very minimal.

Thanks for making me feel old. frown.gif. Haha, but seriously, no payments is completely awesome. I'll probably still have this car even after I get a new one. However, I wouldn't say that mine is "solid as a rock". It needs a few minor things fixed to make it ride completely solid.

Again, thanks to everyone for all the kind words, and don't be afraid to offer criticism or ask questions or leave comments. smile.gif.

Yeah, I just haven't gotten around to changing all the photos yet. I'm majorly lazy when it comes to updating things like profiles or blogs or anything.

mynzeyes, wow 9 years of your car. good to hear that car is atleast still running, even though it wasnt 100% when you first bought it. got to admire the way you've kept the car and still had time to modify it after all the financial trouble. its looking good keep it clean keep it smart i say. most importantly keep it running. no use of getting expensive jdm projectors bling bling parts when you cant even drive the car from a -b. *hats off to mynzeyes*

looks great man. cant go wrong wingless.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
love the rims. wingless FTW
