'Nother Celi Down - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #37863 16 posts Started by ZacMan1987
Well,
Chalk me up on the list. I was picking up a friend from Hartsfield and was almost back to Rome Georgia with her, stopped to eat and get gas, and while trying to turn left, didn't look properly and got beaned by a Dodge Ram. Pics to come when the car gets back in town. My prelim guess is that it's totaled, but that'll be up to somebody else to decide.

The car behaved like a champ. Protected everybody even though it spun a full 180 degrees from the hit. Plus, it spun fast enough to come around and tag the truck in his rear fender too, so it was pretty rough all in all. No injuries of any kind. I cut my hand trying to open the hood and get a look at the engine bay, but that was a no-go. No air bag deployment, no obvious fluid leakage. Some smoke coming through the dash. No fire. All I have of her for the time being is what's left of a headlight casing. They wern't projectors.

Thanks for all of your help and support 6GC. Unless the car is determined to be fixable, I'll be getting out of the Celica market for a good long while. Being 18, this is going to do wonders for my insurance, so I'm not going to be able to justify another Celica.

Pics there.

Preliminary examination. Steering rack gone. All front body components gone. Relay/fuse box next to battery, gone. Radiator, gone. Frame damage, significant. Dunno what else.

Goodluck with the whole process, good thing no one was hurt. I don't blame you for wanting to get out of the celica market for awhile. Everyone makes mistakes, I've even done it before, just never ended up making an accident.
everyone makes mistakes...plus celicas are crash magnets
and dodge rams are dumb tongue.gif [IMO]

they said my car was nearly totaled cause repairs cost $4+k and the car was worth $5k but it was perfectly driveable [minus the fact i had no airbags for a few weeks kindasad.gif ] ...dont listen to them
i say fix it! biggrin.gif

well, it really depends on the damages and where they are at. If the frame is damaged then by rewelding it on could weaken the crash support meaning it wouldn't be as safe to drive. I think they use to reweld the frames but now and days they don't. A girl I know had a truck pull out in front of her so she moved over and end up losing control messing up her front end ruining the frame. She totaled it out. She had a 2004 Acura RSX, now she has Mtisubishi Eclipse 2006

Thanks for the support guys.

If at all possible, I'll be fixing the Celi. I haven't had a chance to move on it much at all yet. Had class today and then practically collapsed into bed.

I shouldn't have been driving in the first place just because I was so tired. I was coming off of a week at camp as a counselor and a 2 hour mountian drive that put me home at 2 AM, "just in time" for class at 10 AM the next morning, followed immediately by the trip to Atl, so I wasn't thinking clearly, which was probably the biggest issue.

At any rate, if it's fixable, I've got a friend who can do my bodywork, and I know I can depend on you guys for parts. I'd say there's plenty of USDM tails lying around biggrin.gif along with USDM headlights. Right now, just pray that the car is fixable.
ive got USDM tails if you need/want them
i'll give them to you for $20 each
[theres a minor crack in each of them but its not bad, you cant even tell. i'll put up pics if your interested]

i havnt put them in the buy/sell forum yet, i figured id ask you first.

ouch... looks pretty bad. good thing no one was hurt. sorry about the celi though.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.
Yuh. It's over. Totaled. I'm turning the title over tomorrow. There was frame damage and a broken steering rack. Those were the major things. On the bright side, I'm getting almost exactly what I paid for her because of the deal I originally got. On the sad side, the U.S.A. is minus one mint condition '99 GT hatch. Don't know what's next yet. My dad has encouraged me to get another Celi if I want, but that means more digging through the markets and such. She will not be an easy car to replace. *snif*
yeah...sorry to hear....dont feel too bad..my 96 st just got rear ended today..damn it sucks...my back bumper kit got crash...im just gonna put up my stock for now but dang maybe it is true we are just crashing magnet eh...lol...by the way this is my second time..first time an old lady reverse didn't look back and crash my side

well...guess its not a "dont feel too bad" cuzz it can't be help..maybe more like...i just join the club...
deff go with another celi, thats what i did, from 91 to 94..but stay 6gc.

Keep your eyes peeled on the 6gc.net boards. About twice a year, a really hot car will show up in the fs area. I rember mikedodsons celica sold for what, $9000 or something? There's been some excellent 3sgte celicas that come through at good prices. If you can afford to wait a few months, I'd just keep eyes peeled for a celica on here.

Sorry bout the accident. Totally suck man, but I was reading your blog and it looks like you've got the right perspective on it.

God Bless brother! Good luck with a new car!
