Can I get some pics of the undercarriage? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #37857 11 posts Started by Starcraftjunkie
I'm wondering if my car is loud (to me anyways) because it's been gutted of some of the exhaust components, so I want to compare the catback if anyone can post some pics of their vehicle. The Hayne's manual doesn't really have good pics of what I'm looking for.

So pics of the 2 cats, the resonantor, and where they are in relation to the rest of the exhaust (don't need any closeup where all you can see is the part. biggrin.gif)

I THINK I'm missing a resonator.. so hence the request. Thx!

i took my reasonator and cat out so its straight pipe, its much louder than it was before, the resonator is a "power robbing bastard" according to my mechanic not that it makes much of a difference on an ST.

In the first picture...............is this a silencer, or a resonator???

Here is my under carrage showing my exaust route. With my bent ass Suspension rods lol
Gutting your cat does improve the sound of your exaust. Even if you have a stock muffler. Probably not by much, but enough to have a nice little rawr. Take it off a proformance one makes it extremely loud. Mines super loud as it is. If I gutted my cat I probably couldn't drive my **** around without hurting my ears.
So the round cylinder is the resonator and the long octogon shaped thing is the 2nd cat, right?

If so.. I'm missing both.. lol.. I just have one long pipe until the magnaflow exhaust... What would help quiet it down w/o taking too much of the power (that the 5sfe doesn't have to start tongue.gif), the resonator or the cat? I'm considering putting one back in.

Thanks for the great pics btw.

For oOBlackOo's pic, is your resonator out? Or is it that lump in the middle (looks like some weirdly bent pipes to me).
And your suspension arms ARE crazy... yipes... doesn't that affect your ride?

Yes I took mine off from when I got my 2 1/4 cat back. Only got one cat and an high flow muffler. I can put my had threw my muffler lol.

Suspension Arms: not really, I can feel it shake alot when im 85 plus, but nothing that really effects anything. Suspension ares are really just there to balance the rear tires. Only thing I've noticed is the rear tires wear quicker than the front. Other than that, everythings fine. My who suspension is ****ed up anyway. I need to redo it. Around 500 bucks in parts. So not that bad considering the celica suspension seems to be cheaper than any car i've see besides the ****ty ass honda.
Hate to bring this thread back from the dead, but currently I'm running catless and resonator-less with an aftermarket exhaust.

I'm looking to put something back.. now, I can't decide whether to put a cat on, a hiflow resonator on, or both. Any suggestions? smile.gif
