I just purchased some st202 OEM fogs for my 94 bumper (the JDM ones), and Iâm wondering what color H3 bulbs I should put in. This poll should be directly related to my situation--is this--not a whole lot of fog, but a ton of deer, and basically just want more light. I like the "Yellow JDM hotness" factor, but don't know if they'll put out as much light as a xenon white/blue bulb.
Also, what bulbs have you found to put out the most light? >>> maker/color?
---> and I know this will come up, so here is a link debating the whole "yellow works better in fog" theory:
http://www.autoanything.com/lights/51A22.aspxhere is a pic of the fogs just for kicks

:

btw, my headlights are 8500k xenon white/blue
Let me know what you guys think!

Hmm i'm not sure which color would be best. I think you are right about the Xenon being the brightest but the yellow would be
a nice look. But if you need them for light, i'd get the best bulb. :-)

definitely yellow man....

You guys are great

for JDM hotness!

...but i'm also looking for what would work best for my situation

Best for what? Seeing in fog: amber. Appearance: clear/white.

ur not supposed to use ur fogs in normal clear weather tho...
i used to think yellow/amber was better for fog lights... but then a bunch of people started telling me it's more about how they're aimed/projected instead of the colour
so now i'm not sure nemore =P
but um... doesn't more light make the deer... um... tranced or wutever u call it?

Of course you have to align them correctly. Assuming correct alignment, amber color will allow more visibility.

sorry.. when i said aimed/projected... i meant like.. the optics of the foglights...
i dunno if this is true.. but somebody had mentioned that in france/switzerland/sweden, it used to be law that foglights had to be yellow... because they helped vision in foggy weather... apparently, they later changed that law when they realized that in actuality, a higher temperature light was better...
but on another note... if the more light is because of deer... aren't deer attracted/put in a daze because of the bright lights????

I have the same exact fogs as you. I tried arctic whites that are 130watts. Results...they are not as good as I thought they would be. I changed to hyper yellows from Nokya. I love that jdm scheme, bright white headlights, yellow fogs.
My fogs are hella bright, the yellows are stronger than my white headlights which are even 130 watts arctics while my H3 yellows are only 70 watts.

Dude, how about
^

you're crazy man

...hey, Iâd go with that look if I had a rally gt4!
...anyway, imo the JDM st202 fogs cannot be touch with a 10 ft. poll as far as looks for the 94/95 bumper, plus they are OEM quality!

...oh, and with my xenon white/blue headlights...yellow down below, oh man, JDM hotness

I think clear/white looks the best. If you go to the PIAA website, I think they have some technical information that indicates amber/yellow is the best for seeing in the fog. I bought clear because fog is only an issue about 2-4 days per year so I wanted it to look good.

Here is something i pulled down from a site that prides themselves on car lighting knowledge
"The old wives' tale that yellow fog lights give you greater visibility over white or blue ones is just not true. The premise of that superstition, that yellow light waves are long enough to pass through water particles without reflecting back into the driver's eyes, is based on a misinterpretation of Lord Rayleigh's principle of light scattering. As it turns out, the water particles in fog and mist are entirely too large to have an effect on any light waves from fog lights, be they yellow, white, blue or even green. In other words, any fog light that is properly mounted and aimed is effective, so don't worry about the color."Now, everybody can draw there own conclusion..and can do their own searches etc...BUT, for me, I went with my personal favorite look, the JDM Yellow hotness

...lol, Iâll have to post a picture when everything comes in and I install it all...
...plus, I might still think Yellow can work better in different types of whether...why not? ...lol, people have been saying it for years

oh well, anything works better than nothing!
...this is a fun thread

i voted amber.....
here is the difference my fog lights made
before

and after this is about 20ft from my house but shows the brightness

i like yellow lighting even my lows are yellow but nowhere near my fogs
THE STUFFS FOR SALE!
well thats ok if you need to see into the field next to you as your driving down the road???
Can't you aim them a bit more central mate?
the beam itself only goes a little farther than my lows do
they just also projects around 80ft on both sides of the car and are a lot brighter than my stock lights they are designed to be a wide angle fog light... they are really good for seeing on those dark curvy roads you can't drive fast on during the day
THE STUFFS FOR SALE!

my fogs are coming in today!

...but the bulbs will not be here for a few days

...guess i'll just have to mount them with the "stock" bulbs they come with.
lol...
