So I got some new rims, but my rotors are rusted and as ugly as sin. They still work well, is there anything I can do short of replacing them? And anyone know how to replace them, or where to get rear rotors?

mine look bad too which is why im getting new ones. check out www.celica.net and see if u can still get in on the gb for slotted or cross drilled rotors.

You have 2 bolts per wheel to change the rotor and the pads....not that difficult. The most difficult part is to compress the caliper piston back.
It is more easy to change all then to clean and sandblast and paint and ....

You're from Chicago Hyper, so I would strongly recomend that you do not go with slotted or cross drilled rotors. One of the guys on this site is from Quebec and his were garbage in less than 2 years because of the rust from salt on the roads. Unless you want to go with summer and winter rotors, just buy toyota replacements. I just got done redoing my rears and it was a hell of a job with all the rust. I even had to replace the parking brake shoes and some of the guts as the parting brake parts had seized and killed the pads. Even had one of the caliper bolts break off... what a mess that was.

When you do redo them, tear down all of your parking brake parts, lube the pivots and sliding surfaces, and check to make sure your parking brake cables are not sticking (I still have to replace one of those) otherwise the brake job will not last.

Hmmm, yea I think that's what I'll do. Switching out rotors every season would be annoying and we only get 4 good driving days a year anyway. Know how much I'll be looking to drop for a set of new rotors?

I priced out up here in canada. From the toyota dealer rear rotors were only 80cdn each = 60 US. They don't make TRD rear pads anymore, and I could not find any decent rear performance pads, so I just went with toyota again at 68cdn. I could have paid only 65cdn for cheap cheap rotors, however I recomend you never ever buy cheap rotors. If you need to get the parking brake shoes, they are 33cdn per side. I had to buy a fet little parts here and there, in end I blew through almost 500cdn just redoing the rear brakes and parking brake guts.

One word of advice, when working on the parking brake, either take a piture befrore you disassemble or lay all the parts out as you take them off. My first time doing drums took me awhile because I could not remember how everthing went together.

if you want a performance upgrade without the mess of CD or slotted, you can get brembo blanks, might be a little cheaper than toyota.
