hey i am wondering if there is anyway i am make i ebrake any stronger because all i know is that it really truely sucks i could pull it all the way up and still drive normal and if i am driving and i pull it it just slows down so is there anyway i can make it stronger?

ok it sounds like you really have to go get your rear drum breakes checked out...thats should do it.. if not they the ebrake cable needs to replaced..

might also need to be adjusted but chances are you need new brakes in the back like me, i have them but i have yet to install them.

if you are driving with the ebrake, like using it to brake around corners and stuff, it's gonna wear out fast and probably need to be replaced several times... it wasn't meant to do that.

isnt it supposed to be called the parking brake, cuz it doesnt do anything in an "emergency"

Actually, if your steering goes out completely, you're supposed to use your e-brake to stop rather than your brake pedal, because your brakes don't wear evenly. >> That's one of the few things I remember from driver's ed.

and having both of your wheels lock up in the back while having no steering is supposed to be a good thing? Since your emergency brake is still a form of brake wont they wear unevenly as well? Why the hell is it called an emergency brake. I just thought they were for parking if you had a manual, but what about cars with auto?

All i know is that while going around on some turns around here i like to rip that sucka up, and slide around the turn, the girlfriend doesnt appreciate that much, but hey whateva.... >>

they only real emergance they work in is if you stop on a hill and start to roll back just pulll up the barke and you come to a dead stop...

Well unless you ride your e-brake all the time, it should be barely worn at all. And your thinking of having your wheels lock up. That's definitly bad for controll. Brakes don't really "lock up" per se. Cars with auto also use them for parking on hills.

that's true only for the GT with it's own separate brake shoes for the ebrake; ST uses the rear brake shoes, so you will need to adjust it as the shoes are worn.

Ebrake would be useful anytime you don't want the weight transfer to the front wheels when braking.
Oh, say.........an example would be you let your apprentice change your wheel bearings for you and he ended up using the wrong grease. While you're on the highway, you see one of your front wheels rolls off your car. Yikes! Well, you would then want to use the ebrake and slowly bring the car to a stop minimizing the weight transfer to the front wheel........

I think its called an e-brake cuz it keeps your car from rolling while its parked, or from rolling away if you dont leave your car in gear once you park somewhere. Which also reminds me......always leave your car in a resisting gear when its parked, even with the handbrake on. My dads friends truck rolled away about a week ago after his brake just gave out, and so did my dads Prelude when he used to have it.....fortunately he was in it at the time, so he stopped it. So the moral of the story is to always play it safe and leave it in gear after you turn it off so that you dont end up being sorry you didnt. >>

yea i do use it frequently, but only when screwing around trying to do power slides and what not. If the e-brake is for car's w/ manual tranny's than why do they bother putting them on car's with auto? Your average Joe Shmoe doesnt know that if his front wheel falls off he should rip up on his e-brake, as a matter a fact your average driver is probably just going to crash instantly as a result there of. And when you hit your normal brakes dont they work on all of the wheels? So what need is there for an e-brake? I'm still sorta confused here....
