If you route it back to the exhaust, before the secondary cat (do you even have one?) you shouldn't have too much backfire, otherwise have the pipe pointed downwards away from any heat sensitive components of your car.

route it right back into the down pipe with its own flex section
no cat + turbo and you are going to blow flames (or at least pop one during heavy load shifts) unless you are running very lean.

doing a divored downpipe is kinda expensive. Mine rerouted back down to the ground but only cuz I wont shell out cash to cuz a flexpipe made. Lemme show you a pict of my dumptube.
