For anyone interested: MR2 data - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #36609 4 posts Started by boosted_K2
Over the last week we've been compiling some data of my car and the results have been VERY encouraging.

a little about the car: It is a 91 ES-prepped hardtop with no options, has suspension techniques front sway bar and koni shocks and we were running on brand new Kumho V710s (205/55/14 f 225/50/14 r) on stock wheels with cold tire temps of 34 front 36 rear, i dont have the alignment data on hand.
Results:
1.2 PEAK Lateral Gs on skidpad! 1.05-1.1 Lateral Gs average
0.71 Longitudinal Gs under acceleration
1.1 Longitudinal Gs under braking
43 - 57 front to rear weight distrobution with 200 lb driver(rear biased)
car weighed in at 2533 LBS w/o driver

results were taken with 4-corner style scale (not sure the exact brand) and a DL-1 Data logger

newb question, how does the skid pad work?

To live, is to sufferTo survive, thats to find meaning, in the suffering....
basically skidpad works where you get up a little speed and gradually turn in until you form a complete circle, then just keep running the circle trying to progressively faster while maintaining the same radius and keeping traction, it isnt the "BEST" way to acquire data for lateral G's, but its a widely accepted standard.

i was incorrect about the weight, it was 2533 LBS w/o driver, and was 43:57 balanced, favoring the rear.
